Hi I'm Tim Hansen

I love to make music, and I love sports. My family means everything to me. I'm a missionary in Washington DC. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 20 years old, and the oldest of 4 children. I love my family SO much. I graduated from Davis High School in Kaysville, UT where I was involved in musicals, and a jazz vocal group. After graduation I went to school at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, UT. I am currently on a mission in Washington DC. I love being in the US Capitol and I love the people I've met. There is absolutely nothing I'd rather be doing than this. I've played the piano for 12 years and the guitar for 6 years. I also love to sing. I was a member of the University of Utah's A Capella band called Infrared. Music is a huge part of my life. I also LOVE sports. I've been playing basketball, baseball, and football for my whole life. I love the Utah Jazz, the New York Yankees, and especially the Utah Utes. My religion is the most important thing to me, and I love to live it. I look forward to living this gospel for the rest of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

The reason I am a member of this church is because I know that it is true. I know that without a single doubt. I've had a few experiences where I've received answers to my prayers, through feelings, that this church is true. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. The Book of Mormon is really the word of God, and if we follow its teachings I know that we can live with God and our families forever, even after we die. I know that this church is the same one that Jesus Christ established when He was on the earth. Jesus Christ is our savior. Through His atonement, our guilt and sorrow can be taken away from us after we do something wrong. Through His grace, we can do things that we could never do on our own. President Thomas S Monson is a prophet of God, and if we listen to him and follow his teachings, along with the rest of the first presidency and and the 12 apostles, we can come closer to God. I am a Mormon because I know that this path is the only one that leads back to Heavenly Father. What I want more than anything is to live with Him and my family again, and this is the way for me to do that. I also know that the same goes for everyone else in the world, and I want to share what I know with them. That's why I've left my home and school for 2 years to live in Washington DC and teach them what I know. I know this church and its teachings are true. I say all this in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving a mission in Washington DC. I spend every day in the service of the Lord by sharing His gospel with the people around me. I try to take every opportunity I can to share with people what I know. But even as a missionary I strive every day to live my faith myself. I do that by keeping God's commandments. I study my scriptures and pray every day, and I try to do what Christ would do. When I make mistakes I repent, and try to improve myself. Living the Gospel is simple: we just have to do our best. That's all He asks. So that's what I try to do every day. I know that this gospel brings SO MUCH happiness and SO MANY blessings to us. It also provides us with what we need so that we can be sealed together as families and be together forever. The blessings of this gospel are incredible. I want others to be apart of it. I'm doing my best to share what I know--and live it.

What is the Book of Mormon?

Tim Hansen
The Book of Mormon, like it says in the introduction, is another book of scripture. The Bible teaches us about God's dealings with the people who lived in the middle east. It's about prophets and their teachings. The thing is, God is the same God, no matter where on earth you live! There were people who lived in ancient America, and these people also believed in and worshiped God. There were prophets among these people who had been called of God, and also wrote down scripture. This is what the Book of Mormon is about. Most importantly, the Book of Mormon is evidence that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is God's church; that it's the same church that Jesus Christ set up when He was here and is led by Him today. The Book of Mormon is evidence of all that. If the Book of Mormon is true, meaning it really is the word of God, then the rest is true. Joseph Smith was a prophet and this is God's church. It only makes sense. It can't be partly true. Either this is God's church, or it is not. The Book of Mormon is how that question can be answered. I know that it is true. That's how I know that this is God's church. I know it's true because I prayed about it, and as I prayed I promised God that if He told me this was true then I would be a member of this church and live this Gospel for the rest of my life. He answered. I knew then and I know now that this is His church. I've kept my promise, and will continue to do so. Show more Show less

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Tim Hansen
God is not the author of confusion, and He doesn't want you to go through life wondering what He wants you to do. God is the source of all truth, and He wants to tell you what that is so that you don't have to wonder. So how can you know that this church really is God's church? Simply ask Him. You don't have to take anyone's word for it, you can go straight to the source and ask God. I know that He'll answer, because He answered me. When I prayed to know if this church really was God's, I felt an assurance that it was. It wasn't anything extraordinary or flashy, I just knew it was true, and I couldn't deny that. I promise that you will receive the same answer. Keep in mind that Heavenly Father will only give you an answer if you intend to act upon that answer. Why would He tell you the church is true if you weren't going to act on that answer by being baptized as a member of the church He just told you was true? The prophet Moroni spells it out very clearly at the end of the Book of Mormon. When we pray to know if this is true, we must have a sincere heart--truly having a desire to know God's will-- and real intent--having the the intention to follow His will, whatever it may be. If you pray to know if this is God's church, with a sincere heart and real intent, He will manifest the truth of it unto you by the power of the Holy Ghost. He answered me, He'll answer you, and He'll answer anyone. He doesn't want us to be lost and confused. He doesn't want us to wonder. Ask Him. Show more Show less
