Hi I'm Elder Kevin J. Smith

I'm a full time missionary in the Brazil Porto Alegre North mission.

About Me

I love to take pictures. Before my mission i was just starting to get into photography. I had this red camera. Its nickname was Tomatoe paste, haha. Though i am on my mission i still try to take pictures on pdays or when i can. I also love Bicycles. Ever since i was 4 years old and my sister taught me how to ride one i have always had one. And loved to ride them. I also enjoy the outdoors. Camping, hiking, snowboarding, sports. I pretty much like it all.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because i know with all of my heart, strength and soul that this is the true gospel of Jesus Christ. Ive had to come a long way to gain this testimony. I grew up being mormon. My whole family is. When i was around 17 i went inactive for about 4-5 years. During those years of my life i was in darkness. I wasnt happy, i pretended i was. But i wasn't, i felt stuck, lost and so confused with what i should do with my life. Over the years my sister and family wrote me letters. At those times of my life that was what i needed most. But i was mostly cold to their words and my heart was still hard towards them. I was choosing the hard path. It wasnt until i moved back to utah in 2011 that i finally started coming back to church. The reason i came back was because i noticed my roommates happiness. And hearing all these young college students my age bare their testimony. I wanted that. I desired that. I got the courage to talk to the bishop. A man i didnt know, I was afraid to talk to him and go through the repentance prossess. But thats the greatest lie that satan places on us. That its scary to repent. That we did the worst thing imaginable and that we wont be accepted. I promise you that none of those are true. When i talked to the bishop that night, I felt the weight of almost 6+ years of what i was hiding vanish. I could truly feel right there and then how much my Savior Jesus Christ loved/loves me. He is so merciful towards us. When i walked home from meeting with the bishop, I literally breathed a new breath that evening. I barely left the parking lot and i was crying, i wasnt crying because i was sad. But rather i was weaping for joy. Right there and then my whole life just turned around. I chose to follow the savior. I testify that his way is the only way. And life truly is and does get better when we follow him. I am so grateful for our Savior Jesus Christ and the atoning sacrafice he has made for us so that we all can return to him again.

How I live my faith

I am a missionary for the church now. So i live my faith by sharing it with all that will give ear to my words. I am currently in Louisiana, serving a reassignment until i receive my visa for Brazil.
