Hi I'm Mary B.

I grew up in Southern California and Utah. I'm a writer and happy mother of two young children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to spend time with my son and daughter. They are so important to me and I love seeing them enjoy and learn more about the beautiful earth. We love to read stories together. Some of our favorites are If you give a moose a muffin, Lama Lama mad at mama and skippy Jon Jones. I do preschool at home for my daughter. We do nursery rhymes, pocket pals and crafts together. I love to sew stuffed animals, curtains and whatever else we need or needs mended. I love to oil paint, do family history, crochet, scrapbook, garden and write. My husband and I love spending date night watching movies. I also like watching a chick flick when it's just me. I love to shop! I get a thrill when I find a deal. Especially after holiday shopping when things are 75% off. I'm a bargain shopper, what can I say! I also love to do DYI projects around our house, like making a headboard and beading wire to make an inexpensive chandelier. My children helped me paint an old dresser white and also painted the driveway. Family Fun!

Why I am a Mormon

My parents raised me as a Mormon, however we did not attend church much when I was a child or as a teen. My sister and I started reading the Book of Mormon and decided that we would go to church because it was the right thing to do. We wanted to learn more about Jesus, Heavenly Father and why we are here on Earth. Our parents finally started coming to church with us. It hasn't been easy but I keep going because I know it's true. There is more to life then just life. After we die, we keep on living and as families! Isn't that so cool! I know that the Savior, Jesus Christ died for me, for us and that is why we can be families together forever. The Gospel has brought peace into my life, meaning and happiness to me and my family. And I will keep going and believing because it is true. We have a prophet who leads us today Thomas S. Monson. Joseph Smith Jr. was and is a true prophet, who translated the Book of Mormon. Jesus truly is and was the son of God. He died for us and was resurrected. He lives!

How I live my faith

I watch over (visit teach) some wonderful ladies. We help each other when in need, become friends and help each other learn more about Jesus Christ. I love serving in my ward where I help with the nursery age children (18months-2yrs). Through songs, reading scripture and playtime they learn more about the Savior and being happy. It's a joy to be with these sweet children.

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

Mary B.
Because if you think about it everything is His already. He created the earth and he has blessed us with what we have. So giving back 10% isn't hard for me to do. It helps further finance his work ,and we are richly blessed by doing it. What better way to spend your money? Knowing that it will be used for something GOOD. We still have 90%. It is such a small thing to ask. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe happens to us after we die? What do Mormons believe about life after death?

Mary B.
We return to "Heaven" we keep learning and progressing more. We may not have our bodies but we do have our spirit and intelligence. We are still organized in our families and can be with loved ones who have passed away. I am looking forward to this because I miss two of my brothers who have passed a way. But I know they are still progressing and I will see them again someday. Sometime after our death our bodies are reunited with our spirits, never to be separated again. Because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ we will be resurrected. We will live again! And with our loved ones again. Life or Death would be pretty lonely without our families. Show more Show less
