Hi I'm Sheli

I'm a Mamma's girl from Mesa, I'm obsessed with mustaches, I'm a return missionary, but most importantly I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My life may be boring to some, but it is the best to me. I wouldn't change anything about it. I have the best family in the world! I'm a return missionary and that is the biggest blessing I have ever received. I got to serve in the Utah Salt Lake City Temple Square Mission and the California Oakland/San Francisco Mission. Serving a mission was one of the best choices I have made so far in my life. I love playing volleyball, reading, learning, being with family, listening to country music, watching movies, laughing, playing in the rain, doing Zumba, and just about every other good thing in life. It's a great time to be alive and I thank Heavenly Father every day for what I have been blessed enough to receive.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised a member of the Church and I thank Heavenly Father every single day for that. I'm a member of the Church because I have chosen to be, not because of any other reason. I have gained so much peace in my life from the Gospel because I know that there is a plan for me. There is worth to my life and I get to know what that is because the Gospel helps me with that. Through scripture study and daily prayer we can find out anything we want because Heavenly Father is always there and answers our prayers. I guess you could say that this is why I'm a Mormon. I have received answers to my prayers and have honestly felt His love for me. There is nothing that can replace that feeling and no where else it can come from.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by actually living my faith. I live exactly what I believe. Before going on a mission I had the great opportunity to teach the children that attend the same congregation as I do and I loved it so much. It's harder to live what you teach when someone is always watching, but for me it helped a lot. I wanted to be a good example to those kids and I wanted to be a good example for them and also for others. I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ and I want people to actually see that in me. I follow the commandments that we have been given and that has brought all the joy into my life. I've actually sat down and really thought about why I love the Church and it's because of the commandments. Because I have followed them, my life has been happy and blessed and I see the purpose of it.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

No one is required to serve a mission, but they definitely should! One of the reasons that I went on a mission was because of the example of two Sister missionaries that I met when I was 11 years old. I fell in love with them and missionary work and I couldn't think about anything else except becoming a missionary myself. It is such an honor that we are given to be a missionary because we get either 2 years (men) or 1.5 years (women) to serve our God and our Church. The joy that comes to our life and the lives of others when they learn about the plan that God has for them and what Jesus Christ has done for us and what that means, is such a blessing. A mission isn't to force anyone to learn about the Church but it's an opportunity for them to learn about it and if they accept it then great, if not then at least we were able to share it with them.
