Hi I'm Hailey

I'm studying business. I believe that love can change the world. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm at university right now, and am very busy studying. However, when I have free time I love visiting my friends, reading, jogging, hiking, swimming, and listening to music. I also love traveling, learning, and art.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents come from South Africa and their families were taught by some LDS missionaries, felt the trueness of it, and subsequently joined the LDS church. My parents then moved to America, met each other, married, and then had me. And that's how I became a Mormon--I grew up in the LDS church. Although I was surrounded by goodness and taught about God's wonderful plan for us, I didn't really understand how important it was until I went away to university. It was only then that I decided to really find out if it was true or not for myself. So, I read the Book of Mormon and the Bible, prayed to know if they were true, attended church--trying to learn, and really tried to live the commandments God had given. Although I never had a sudden answer, slowly, I saw myself change to become a better person, and most importantly when I was still and seeking to know if something was true I felt the Holy Ghost bear witness to me that it was. And gradually the faith I had hoped to have was there, and the faith I had became knowledge. And it is because of that knowledge I have gained through sincere study, prayer, and living the Lord's commandments to the best of my human ability, that I can tell you that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ live. He loves you, we are His children, and He has sent us here to earth to learn how to love and use our free agency. God sent His son, Jesus Christ, to earth to die and atone for our sins so we can return to God's presence. He has restored His church through Joseph Smith His prophet, who translated the Book of Mormon. It is true, I have read it and know that it really is the word of God through his prophets. I have hope and joy in this earthly life and know that there is one to come--that we are eternal beings with infinite potential. I may not be perfect, but I am trying, and have seen what a profound change choosing to make God the number one priority has been. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true.

How I live my faith

I believe that once you have found something true and good, you should totally devote yourself to it. I have found this to be true with my relationship with God and my discovery that the LDS church was true. There is nothing better than to live each day with integrity, spend your time doing something that improves you and makes you a better person. I live my faith daily by studying the Lord's word either in the scriptures or his prophets, talking to the Lord (praying), thinking of ways I can treat others more lovingly, surrounding myself with goodness, trying to care for and serve others, improving my skills and knowledge, and trying to become more like Christ. Some days I do things I'm not proud of. Some days I lose my temper and am selfish. I'm not at all perfect. But it's alright, I'm trying very hard, and because of Christ's atonement that's enough.
