Hi I'm Russ

-Japan, Utah, Oregon. -Drum, climb, hike, longboard, snowboard, dive, discus, travel. -I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Russ. I was born and raised in Tokyo and moved to Utah when I was 17. I am currently living in the Portland Oregon area to serve as missionary for two years. I believe that the most important thing to do in this life is to build meaningful and sincere relationships with God and with those around you.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this church and my family has always been a part of it as well. For many years as a child and even a teenager, I was a Mormon because my family members were and it was expected that I would be. But eventually, in my late teenage years, I had to find out for myself if this gospel was true and of God. By praying, studying, and sincerely doing all I could to gain a testimony for myself, I came closer to God and realized the importance of this gospel. My Heavenly Father placed people in my life that helped me realize that I could, and needed to use the Atonement of Jesus Christ to be forgiven of my sins. After I was able to humble myself and truly take advantage of the sacrifice Christ made for us, I knew that this gospel was true and was the only way to have true happiness in this life and eternity.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by recognizing the dependency that I have on Jesus Christ. He took my weaknesses and pains upon himself so I could be freed from them as I keep his commandments and live his gospel. God doesn't intend us to go through this life with only our own strength to deal with difficulties. He has given us the gospel to bring us peace and direction.

What are Mormon Temples used for?

In Temples, we make covenants (promises) with the Lord that help us be become better people and closer to God. Because the Temple is such a sacred place, we must prepare ourselves by becoming free from certain sins before we can go to the Temple. The Temple is the best place on earth to come closer to God and feel the promptings of the Holy Ghost. Show more Show less
