Hi I'm Debbie

I grew up in Texas. I'm half Italian. I'm a nursing student. I'm a missionary. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a nursing student in college. I love making people who are sad be happy :) I've worked as a lifeguard for 4 years and I LOVE it! I love playing any sport, but especially tennis and volleyball. My parents are wonderful and supportive and I love them. I have and older and a younger brother who can sometimes drive me crazy but are also my closest friends. I love my family and I'm so glad I'm stuck with them FOREVER. In October 2013 I became a full-time missionary and have been called to serve in the Santos, Brazil mission for the next 18 months.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it brings me hope. When I was a young teenager my grandpa became quite ill. I remember listening to my grandma pray the most sincere and heartfelt prayers I had ever heard. I thought that no God would leave my grandma's prayers unanswered and surely my grandpa would be healed and recover. However, after a short while my grandpa passed away. This made me very angry and confused. If there was a God, He wouldn't just let my grandpa die, and if He did than He was not the loving God I was taught about at Church. During this time of confusion and despair, I humbled myself enough to get down on my knees and talk to a Father that I wasn't sure existed. I asked why this horrible thing had happened and why He would leave my grandma alone. As I poured out the worries of my little heart I began to feel peace. Thoughts of Jesus in Gethsemane and on the cross popped into my head and I remembered the price that He paid. I remembered that because of His sacrifice and the love of a Father in Heaven, my grandma and grandpa could be together again. It's as if everything I had been taught suddenly made sense. My heart was at peace and I knew it was true. The truths I have learned from reading both the Bible and the Book of Mormon help me know there is hope! We are here to be happy and God wants that happiness for us. I have been blessed beyond what I deserve and I am so grateful for a loving Savior who has provided a path for me to return to my Heavenly Home.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to incorporate the truths I learn from reading the Bible and Book of Mormon into my studies at school. I read from the Bible and Book of Mormon to get to know Jesus better so that I can be more like Him :) I try to treat my patients with the love and care that Jesus would if He was here. As a missionary I am a representative of Jesus Christ and am trying my best to continue learning about His character so I can serve/teach those around me the same way He would if He was in my position. One way I do that is trying to remember to turn out when I want to turn in and focus on the needs of others rather than myself. I try to forget myself and get to work.
