Hi I'm Jean Carlos

I was born in Honduras and grew up in New York. Music and the Gospel bring meaning to my life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Well, I consider myself a fun person. I love to go out with my friends and have a great time. I have been playing Piano for about 10 years now. Music is a big part of my life. Whenever I am nervous, anxious, happy, annoyed, sad, angry, and/or upset, sitting in front of that Piano and start playing, everything seems great for that moment. The only other feeling of peace I feel is when I pray. Playing and Praying. That's what is all about. Along with music, I love learning different languages/cultures. Currently, I speak English, Spanish, French, and Italian. I will be adding another shortly. About a week ago, a big white envelop came in the mail around 4:00PM. It was my mission call! I was at work and my sister called me to let me know. I felt my heart in my throat. I called my friends and family to join me when I opened it. Finally it was 8:00PM and as I opened my call and started to read, I could feel my pulse increasing. As i read the words " You have been called to serve as a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days," I choked up. I have been called to the Brazil Sao Paulo Interlagos mission. I could not believe!! Now to learn Portuguese. I am so excited to serve! I have prepared so much for this moment, and I still have way more to do. In the meantime, I am working as a Sales/Customer Service Representative with Allstate Insurance. the insurance business is tough, but I do love m job. I know a greater job awaits for me in Brazil. I can't wait till March.

Why I am a Mormon

This question is actually one I had asked myself a while back. Why am I here? I was born into the church. I was jealous of on of my best friends who willingly joined the church as a sixteen year old. I thought it would have been so cool to actually have the opportunity to choose and accept the gospel. I prayed long and hard for some personal revelation to let me know. As I read and pondered over the scriptures, I came to know that I definitely belong here. I viewed it from a different angle. I now thought, I wish my friend would have been born and raised with the same principles and values I was brought up with. How easier and happier his life would have been. I am a Mormon, not because my family is Mormon. I am a Mormon because I love my God and his Son, Jesus Christ. I love this gospel. I am a Mormon because I love the teachings I learn. I love knowing that through his atonement, I can be forgiven for all my sins and return to live with my Heavenly Father. I know this Church is true. I know that He speaks to our prophets, and they are inspired to give us instruction in these latter days.

How I live my faith

One of my favorite things about the church how we emphasize our teachings and learning on serving others, whether it is through an actual church calling or on your won. I have been volunteering my free time for a while now. Since I was in High School, I joined both the Nation Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society and the National Beta Club with the intent to serve and help others within my community. One of my favorite activities we did as a group in the NSHS was to tutor the ESL kids at the local elementary school who were having problems learning English. I loved it because that was me at one point. I also am thankful our Heavenly Father has given musical ability. I am the branch pianist in our branch. It is a great feeling to know you are helping bring the Spirit through Hymns. I am also the church choir pianist, and also volunteer my time in the local Middle School as their pianist and after school teacher. The greatest opportunity to serve will be in the Spring of 2013 when I will embark to serve a full-time missionary for the church.
