Hi I'm Brisa

I am a missionary. I play rugby and soccer. I love my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am very competitive with sports and have played soccer for 8 years and rugby in college. I am undecided in what I want to go into career-wise, but I am putting that aside to be a full-time missionary. I love to serve others and want to share with them my love for the gospel. I love travel and have fun learning about different cultures and the world's history. For my free time, I sing, play guitar and also love photography. My family is a big part of my life. I love my family, and spend most of my time with them.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was born into a Mormon house, the choice was mine to be a member, a "Mormon". I have gained knowledge for myself of the truthfulness of the Mormon church, more correctly known as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. During the most trying times in my life, nothing helped me pull through more than me knowing the gospel was true, and God loved me so much to send his son, Jesus Christ, to atone for my sins, so that I could live with them again. I know that my Heavenly Father loves me enough to give me rules and commandments to follow to protect me, just as a parent would. I know that my Savior lives, for I have felt his presence in my life, and has felt his love for me even when I felt undeserving of that love. I know that He answers prayers and the righteous desires of our hearts. I know that through His restored gospel, I can return to Him with my entire family, and live with them forever in His kingdom in heaven. I know that even a family member who has passed away can be with us for eternity, and that has given me comfort in different times in my life. I know that the Book of Mormon is true, because I have read it, and prayed and asked God with real intent, and He has made it known unto me. I am a Mormon, because I know we have prophets today, who give me and everyone council and receive revelation from God. I cannot deny the knowledge I have in my heart, that all of these things I know to be true.

How I live my faith

I love to live my faith by being an example to friends who are unfamiliar with our beliefs. On my soccer and rugby teams, it was nice to be with my teammates that weren't members, because they saw the standards I lived by. They helped me keep my standards high by being great friends and encouraging me to be better. I also love going to church. I am in the singles' ward, which is a part of the church where all single members go to meet friends and gain relationships. It is nice to go to a ward where everyone has similar goals and are at the same stages in their lives. Everyone loves and supports eachother. It is very uplifting to go and feel the Spirit that everyone radiates. I live my faith by not only going to church, but by studying the Bible and the Book of Mormon. Both are the word of God, and I have come to know this through the Holy Spirit. I also try to serve and be nice to all of those I meet. Without charity, the pure love of Christ, we cannot be truly living the gospel. Because I know the truth of this gospel, I have made the decision to serve as a missionary of the church for 18 months. I am so grateful for the knowledge I have of the gosepel, and want to share it with all those who are willing to listen, because it is the biggest blessing in my life. I know that the Spirit will touch the hearts of those in the area of the world I will be serving, and am so grateful for the opportunity to meet and learn to love those amazing people.
