Hi I'm Katelynn

I grew up in Utah. I love to draw and garden. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I love to be out in the mountains. Especially in the late spring and early summer when all the Utah wild flowers are in full bloom. One of my hobbies is to garden. I my yard we have herb gardens, vegetable and flowers gardens. Just seeing the simply wonderful plants and flowers makes me so grateful for my loving Heavenly Father who has sent me to this earth to see his amazing creations. I also enjoy drawing. Mind you, I am not very good at it but it's fun and it's a good way just to relax. And it comes to no surprise that one of my favorite things to draw is flowers. But a lot of my hobbies have been put on a short hold while I serve my LDS mission in Northern Virgina. I have learned so much about the peoples and cultures of the world while serving the wonderful people that live here. I am so glad the Heavenly Father has sent me here to learn!

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I was born into the faith, I knew that I had a choice to stay or leave the church. But why should I leave? I have had many wonderful trials and joys. I know that the Lord has given be the strength to keep going. Through the power of the Holy Ghost, I have learned of the truths found in the Holy Bible and the Book of Mormon. Knowing and acting upon the word of God has given me true happiness if I keep his commandments. I know who I am, where I came from and where I will be going. There comes a great peace from being a part of this church. Not only am I spiritually strengthened but my physical health is also improved. Because I uphold the health code or word of wisdom, my body is clean of any harmful substances. My life is filled with: true happiness, good health and a world wide network of friends.

How I live my faith

I know of my Mormon Pioneer heritage and am glad of it. Learning about my family through family history work, opens my eyes to the strength and power they had to work to get the their Zion in Utah. My mum and I search through records to find the family lines that are missing from our pedigree chart. I have spent many years working as a youth volunteer at a local theater. It has been good to work with other people and getting to know social skills that would otherwise have to be learned later on in life. Serving the community has brought to me a feeling of country pride. When I was twelve, I was asked to take part in leading a young women group. I have been with this group for six years. We have done community service by planning food drives, cleaning community landscapes and visiting the elderly in our neighborhood. I have enjoyed ever moment of my short time with the young women. They know how to care and work hard. I have learned every moment and would not have it any other way. Now, only a few years later, I'm proud to be serving the Lord and the people of North Virgina during an eighteen month mission. I am glad to be here and have learned even more about my loving Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I know that God is there and is just waiting for us to take his hand and lead us to were we need to go in life. He is there and nothing in this world will make me believe otherwise.
