Hi I'm Shaina

I live in South Carolina. I love to read and write. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I'm currently a freshmen in college. I want to be a book editor or maybe a script editor, so my major is English. I love to read, write, and watch movies! I love to play soccer, and watch football. My favorite football team is the South Carolina Gamecocks! When I'm not stressing about all of my homework assignments or tests, I love to blog or find ways to just have fun.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. My mom has always been a member, but my Dad joined when he was 25. I've always known that the Church is true, I just had to know that I knew it. When I turned 14, I began a seminary class, where the high school students get together in the mornings to study scriptures. My teacher showed us a video that really showed us the effects of music on our moods and feelings. He started off with little children singing a hymn and then it was gradually tuned out by music you would hear on the radio. It wasn't bad music, it was just loud and not as lovely as the children singing. I immediately felt a change in the room. Where just moments before it had been peaceful and calm, that feeling was gone. I literally felt an emptiness in my chest, and it was painful . I knew that the peaceful feeling was the Spirit, and I knew from that moment on, I would always strive to keep the Spirit with me. After this experience I started trying to think of ways to keep the Spirit with me. The things that helped the most were going to Church, reading my scriptures, and praying. I later had the opportunity to become more acquainted with all that Joseph Smith had to go through to restore the true church to the earth. I couldn't imagine anyone going through all the persecutions, if it wasn't true. I know without a shadow of a doubt that Joseph Smith is a prophet. I also know that Thomas S. Monson is the prophet today. I know that Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father know my name, and know me personally. They know everything that I'm going through and are always there to listen to my troubles and help me in the way that's best for me. I know that they love me and that I am a child of God. I have divine worth, and I always strive to live that shows in everything I do. I know that my family can live together forever and I am so grateful for that!

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday. Currently, I am able to help plan activities in a group of other freshmen at my college and we get together every Monday to have a gospel lesson and hang out together. This way we always have that "family" aspect and always have people to talk to when we need a friend.
