Hi I'm Kim

I grew up in Kearney, Nebraska. I'm an account manager (sales) for a large audiovisual firm. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy snow skiing and hiking. In May of 2012 my son and I hiked from the north rim to south rim of the Grand Canyon (24 miles) in 12 hours. I'm of a dad of 4 girls and twin boys. My wife and I have been married for over 34 years.

Why I am a Mormon

I was attending a technology college learning electronics. I was miserable there. My mother asked me, “What do you really want to do?” I enjoyed music. I told her I wanted to be an audio recording engineer. She called the owner of a major live sound company to ask about schools that taught recording. This owner provided the sound systems for concerts for the Carpenters, John Denver, Johnny Cash, Neil Diamond, etc. FYI: I was a roady in the summer of 1976 for Johnny Cash. Anyway the owner said that BYU has a 3 week seminar on sound recording. So mid June 1974 through 1st week of July I attended this seminar. The seminar was fantastic and they had famous speakers that made learning the basics and understanding easy. After the seminar I asked the instructor if they offered additional schooling in this field and he said yes. I said great sign me up. Fall semester starting in mid August. With my parents help and his we were able to PULL a lot of strings and I was able to attend BYU that August. The instructor found me housing. Before we went my mother said “If you want to become a Mormon its fine with your father and I”. I said that won’t happen. I was required to take a religion class each semester so I signed up for a Book of Mormon class to get that out of the way. I found a class that fit my schedule which was taught by Cleon Skousen. Skousen is a famous author/instructor. I didn't know. I had to buy a workbook that he wrote and I had to answer a question on each verse. So you had to read the Book of Mormon very carefully. Right away I felt something different about this book. It felt good what I was reading. I asked my roommate what is this I’m feeling? He said don’t worry about it, just keep reading. It was the Holy Ghost touching my heart. Right now I can remember those strange, new, wonderful feelings and how good they felt/feel. It’s something you want to feel always. Two years later while attending BYU I was baptized and have been ever since.

How I live my faith

I have been the ward clerk for 4 years. I home-teach 2 families.
