Hi I'm Katie

I am a veterinarian, wife, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I currently practice as a small animal veterinarian in a rural town in Illinois. My days are filled with meeting new people and their pets, soothing wounds, running tests, and doing surgery. I love getting to meet so many new people and helping to keep their pets healthy and the fact that every day is different and I am constantly learning new things. Besides being an animal lover, I also have interests in sewing, baking, canning food, and I like to run and bike. I love trying out new and weird recipes on friends. I am always on the look out for an interesting book to read that will broaden my perspective of the world. I am married and my husband and I hope to start a family soon.

Why I am a Mormon

Mormonism gives meaning to my life by defining who I am, where I came from, and what my purpose on this earth is. It helps me to look beyond the trivial and inconsequential things in life and focus on the things that really matter. It teaches me to live my life in such a way that I will have no serious regrets. By living the way I have been taught, I have found true peace and joy in life, even in the midst of difficult trials. Knowing that God speaks through living prophets gives me comfort in a world of ever-changing worldly philosophies. I know that if I live the things they teach, my life will be blessed. Living as a Mormon requires sacrifices of time and means but I have been abundantly blessed in my life for these sacrifices. Most of all, Mormonism allows me to have a personal and growing relationship with my savior Jesus Christ. He is my exemplar and I come to know him through the words of ancient and modern prophets and by living his gospel.

How I live my faith

I live my faith on a day to day basis by doing my best to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. For me, this includes learning to have compassion for others and being non-judgmental. Attending and participating in Sunday church meetings and serving in the church is important to me. I serve in the church's children's organization on Sunday and I love to see the children learn the teachings of Jesus. The church also provides a way for us to care for each other through home and visiting teaching. I try to follow the example Jesus set when I visit my visiting teaching sisters.
