Hi I'm Heather Wilson

I love life. I know who I am, what I am doing here, and where I am headed because of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

About Me

I am 20 years old in my third year at the university and I love life. I am a travel addict. Seeing other areas of the world, learning about different cultures, and expanding my view of other people have been among the most fulfilling experiences I have had. I have lived in Israel, El Salvador, and China, and have visited a lot of countries in between. Maybe I love traveling so much because I thrive off of experiencing different and new things. The outdoors have always captivated me. Hiking, biking, rock-climbing, camping, boating, playing sports have always held a certain thrill. I am the youngest of 8 kids, 7 girls and 1 boy. I aspire to hold the title of "favorite aunt" to my 12 (soon to be 13!) beautiful nieces and nephews.

Why I am a Mormon

No lightning bolts have struck me as I have made decisions to follow Jesus Christ, and I have found this in and of itself to be a blessing. Rather than miraculous, rare occasions, the process of a lifetime that has brought me to know my Savior. As a young girl, I read the scriptures and tried to follow the prophet. As I grew older, I recognized the need for help, and my scripture study and prayers became more sincere. I wanted to know if God really was there, if the scriptures really were his words, if Joseph Smith--through God--restored the true church, and if the prophet and apostles really were trustworthy. As I searched deep in my soul, it dawned on me--you already know! How was it that I already knew? When I read my scriptures, I am happier. When I try to follow the commandments, I feel more at peace. When I listen to and study the words of the prophets, I receive answers to my questions. Just because I can't "prove" God exists scientifically--the knowledge I have attained from God through His Spirit is even more reliable than science. I know that Joseph Smith saw God the Father and Jesus Christ and that Joseph Smith was inspired to restore the fulness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and translate the Book of Mormon. I know that God loves me because he answers every prayer that I pray. He wants me to be happy, and he knows that the easiest route to true happiness is living righteously. I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is the reason my life is worth living.

How I live my faith

I currently teach Sunday School to the other young single adults in my ward, and love learning more and getting immersed in the scriptures. There is so much depth in the Book of Mormon, the Pearl of Great Price, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Bible that we will never appreciate unless we seriously study the scriptures. A study of the stories and doctrines has brought me profound and lasting joy and solace when I have needed it. I also enjoy very much visiting with and getting to know designated women of the Church. I go with an assigned sister, the two of us present a short message, and then get to spend time learning about and helping our sisters in the Gospel. I have made lasting friends and felt an added measure of the Holy Ghost in my life as I have done these things.
