Hi I'm Hermana Whitney Wilcox

I grew up in Chile and New Zealand. I get to serve a full-time mission in California and Spain. I'm a Mormon!"

About Me

I am from Utah, but grew up in Chile and New Zealand. Living in other countries and attending international schools helped me gain an appreciation for other cultures and people. Currently I am serving a full-time mission for the Church in California and Spain. Before the mission I studied public relations at Brigham Young University, and I look forward to returning. I love dance, and had the opportunity to participate in BYU's Folk Dance Ensemble from 2010-11. I love reading, cooking, writing, traveling, and all other great things to love.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was ten I moved to New Zealand. When I was twelve, my family moved down to Chile where my parents served as mission presidents in the Chile Santiago East Mission. Moving to another country can be hard. You are faced with completely new people, cultures, customs, and languages. But it is the most incredible learning experience as you are forced to come out of your comfort zone. I love seeing life in a way I never have before. Eating new food, meeting new people, being surrounded by noises, smells, sights, and sounds. The world is beautiful, whether it presents itself in the form of a serene mountain or a crowded city square. I'm a Mormon because I know God is aware of me and knows all the intricate workings of my life. Just as He has orchestrated the creation of this beautiful world for me to live in, He knows and guides my life. I have felt the truly unearthly power and joy that comes from following Him. I'm a Mormon because of the temple. I have seen and felt the true joy found only in the temple, and know that it is a "refuge from the storm". I'm a Mormon because it's the only sensible way to make it through this life. Life can be hard! Serving a mission is wonderful, but I have never felt more frustrated in myself. If I know how good God is, why can't I just be happy all the time and move forward? What motivates me to keep trying, even when I mess up time after time? The answer is the atonement, and it is something that I'm just now starting to feel and understand. The atonement changes people. I see how it is changing me. I couldn't make it through life without being a Mormon. I need my faith to keep my hope. And that is what we want for you.

How I live my faith

I have the chance to serve as a full-time missionary both in California and in Spain. And believe me, when I go home I am going to be the most dedicated visiting teacher the Church has ever seen!
