Hi I'm Martie!

I'm a dancer, I smile a LOT, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a college student studying Math Education, but don't let that scare you. Though I enjoy doing math, I also love to dance, sing, act, and have adventures with my friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church (which gave me a great foundation to start with) but I am a Mormon because I am truly happy as a Mormon! Nothing else in life has helped me to be as at peace with myself and others as following the teachings of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, found here in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. To me, Joy is like knowing that, no mater how dark they look, above all those clouds the sun IS shining. It's more than superficial happiness. It has an eternal perspective. Over and over again I have seen the difference it makes in someone's life when they are doing what God wants them to do. Like I said before, life is not easy, but I can have joy in this life as I trust in God. I know that God is my Father in Heaven and that he loves me. Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer. Because of Christ I don't let things of this world get me down. Because I know that this is His gospel, all will be well in the end. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is God's church restored on the earth in these days, and He has given us prophets to guide us to come closer to him. But, just as Lavar Burton says, "Don't take my word for it!" I know you have to discover this yourself. Learn what God has in store for you because that will bring you true joy!

How I live my faith

I'm always looking for ways to help others' lives be happier, and much of how I do that is through the gospel. Right now I am serving a mission in the Texas Fort Worth Mission. You wouldn't believe how gratifying it is to see the light in people's eyes when they find the truth for themselves. I know that my greatest joys have come from living the gospel, not just on Sundays, but on every day of the week. Life isn't easy (I won't lie and try to say that it is) but I know that as I try to do a little better every day that I can brighten the world one, even just by a smile. Some might say that God's commandments are just to weigh us down. I know that's not the case, because they've helped me to see the right paths so I can avoid the hurt of sin and stay optimistic about the future. In the church specifically, I've participated in service projects and youth summer programs as well as partying it up at church dances!
