Hi I'm Maggie

I love my husband and kids and love to experiment in the kitchen. I like being a substitute teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I just celebrated my 25th wedding anniversary. I got married during college, started having kids, and finished a Bachelor's degree in microbiology. I loved being a stay-at-home mom for 22 years. Three years ago, when my youngest started school, I decided to start substituting at our local elementary school. I love teaching and interacting with the kids. They recognize me in the neighborhood or at the store. It's great. My oldest child is graduated from college, married and working while her husband attends Dental School. I have a son serving a full-time mission for the Mormon Church in Taiwan. He was attending the USMA at West Point and put his studies on hold to serve the Lord for two years. He loves teaching the people of Taiwan about Jesus Christ in Chinese. My other kids are home going to school and very busy with sports and music. My hobbies are cooking and picking fruit and berries at local farms and orchards. Even when I was a kid I liked to cook and my time at home has given me a chance to experiment and learn new things in the kitchen. I lived on a small farm for a while as a child. We had fruit trees and a huge garden. I guess I miss it.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it makes sense. All of life's questions are answered for me. There is a plan for me and my family. We have the restored gospel of Jesus Christ with all of the teachings and priesthood authority that was part of Christ's church when he was on the earth. The Book of Mormon confirms and clarifies the teachings of the Bible. More importantly, I am a Mormon because I have received a witness from the Holy Spirit that the teachings of this church are true. Anyone can seek for and have that witness. (Matthew 7:7-8)

How I live my faith

I love participating in my congregation at church. We all love and serve one another. I am currently teaching a Sunday school class of 13-year olds. The lessons are designed for participation and discussion. The kids can teach each other what they know and we search for answers to things they still need to learn. We study the scriptures and the words of our prophets. Everyone has the opportunity to provide watch care to each other in our church. I visit women every month and keep up with their activities. This has been a great way for me to make friends and connect with other women in the congregation. I find out about chances to serve others. I am not naturally outgoing and this helps me extend myself. In addition to being a teacher, I have had the chance to organize activities for the women. I have learned to plan and prepare large scale meals, plan service projects, and plan activities to teach life skills or provide a spiritual lift. I accepted assignments and just jumped in and did the best I could. My experiences have helped be able to better serve in my community.
