Hi I'm Ryan Milton Erwin

I'm a child of 2 deaf parents. I am studying to be a High School Theater teacher. I am tri-lingual and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the baby in a family of 6. Both my parents are deaf yet my three siblings and I are all hearing. I recently returned from serving a full time mission for the Church in Uruguay where I learned Spanish. So that is how I know three languages. All throughout my life I loved to be the center of attention and be over dramatic. Which made it no surprise when I told my family I wanted to be a theater teacher. I love making dreams come true. I love making something out of nothing. I am rather weird, I love sports, Longboarding, singing and hip-hop dance. Had a mullet once, a rather fond time of my life. I am that one kid who cant watch scary movies without a piloow in my face. Go do anything dangerous or adventurous without getting hurt. I am Murphy's Law, anything that can go wrong in my life... generally does. But I wouldn't have it any other way. My life is interesting and unexpected, the best type of life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon today because I received an answer from God that is this what I should be doing. Although I was raised in the Church I moved away to go to college. I formed a group of close friends where only me and one other were members of the church. They always felt comfortable to ask us questions and sometimes I didn't know the answers but I knew that God would help me. As I studied the scriptures and went to church and prayed I found the answers. I may not know everything but I know enough. I know that God loves us and watches over us, that is why we have the Gospel and the Church, so that we can get back to him.

How I live my faith

I was raised in the Church and can see the difference in my life and those who don't live the gospel. Some of my non-member friends are actually some of my greatest examples of integrity to one's self. No one is perfect Mormon or not so I try to keep the good from everyone and leave the bad from everyone. I currently work with the 12 year old boys in my church. I am grateful to teach them and grateful I am not a father yet. I try to be more then I do. I am very happy to be a Mormon and hope that others can see the joys of the Gospel in my life.

What is the Church’s position on abortion?

Ryan Milton Erwin
We don't encourage it, but if necessary it's allowed. You don't have to get church clearance to do so but it is encouraged to meet with local leaders to seek counsel and support. In my personal family I have very positive experiences about adoption. The decision should be sought from the Lord. It takes a person of much strength to take a situation that appears negative and make it a positive by giving a family a child. It should at least be considered. Abortion should be the last option not the first. Show more Show less

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Ryan Milton Erwin
Yeah I love the Bible. I love finding ways to relate both the Book of Mormon and the Bible. My testimony of Jesus Christ and his Church comes from both of these important books. I cannot be based solely on either one I need both. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about “eternal life?”

Ryan Milton Erwin
Eternal life is the idea or goal or desire of every Christian. It's life with God and Jesus Christ and with our families. Heaven is the continuation of the perfect home. I want to find a girl and form a family based on the goal of Eternal Life. It's the biggest priority, achieving eternal life. It's the big picture. Show more Show less

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Ryan Milton Erwin
They proselyte to share a message that will bless everyone. We want to share what we have. Missionaries do not want to tear down any faith you have in Christ, they seek to build it. It's following the Savior's way and helping others find it. Show more Show less
