Hi I'm Benjamin

I was an Engineering student. Now I'm a full-time missionary. I enjoy outdoors, music, and family time. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Utah. I love outdoor activities, hiking especially. I began discovering my love for music during high school. I have begun to learn the piano, the organ, and i enjoy singing. I love the adventure of cooking and baking. I studied Civil Engineering before beginning my LDS Mission, and i plan to continue that pursuit after i finish.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. My knowledge and testimony of the truthfulness of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ has come and been strengthened by putting its principles to the test. As i have lived the Gospel, i have witnessed its promises be fulfilled. I have always been invited to not just take anybody's word for it, but to put it to the test. For example, the Book of Mormon is a book of ancient scripture that teaches plainly and powerfully the way to follow Christ and obtain happiness. At the end of the book there is an invitation to read the book, to ponder on its meaning, and then to ask God in the name of Christ if the book is true. The promise is that if i ask with a sincere heart, with real intent-meaning that i am ready and willing to act on the answer that i receive, having faith in Christ, God will manifest the truth of it unto me by the power of the Holy Ghost. I have studied the Book of Mormon a lot, and i have prayed about its contents and the truthfulness of its origin and the Holy Spirit has brought assurance with clarity to my mind and my heart that it is true. By this same power and also by living it's teachings and seeing its true fruits take effect in my life, i have come to know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the Kingdom of God on the Earth. I have come to know that in 1820 God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith in a vision and called him to be the prophet to restore the fulness of the truth and God's Divine Authority to the earth; and to establish Christ's true and living church which is today led and directed by divine revelation through Prophets and Apostles for the purpose of bringing salvation to all the souls of men. This knowledge brings me great joy and also peace and confidence amidst the storms of life. It enables me to prepare now to receive all that God wants for me both now and after this life.

How I live my faith

Much of my life has been centered on my family and my faith as they seem to bring me the most joy. Whenever these two things slip from being my top priorities, my life seems a little empty, and a little harder, so i bring them back into focus. I grew up being very active in the youth programs of the LDS church. I got to serve as a leader of my fellow youth as we enjoyed scouting and other youth service projects and activities. We gathered a couple of times per week and it provided a nice relief and uplift from the pressures of school. I had many wise and caring mentors that taught me at church and served and led along side me in the youth programs of the church. My family is united by our faith in Jesus Christ and His Restored Gospel. My parents, my siblings and I understand that God has given us each other to enjoy one another and to strengthen, support one another that we might all succeed in fulfilling the purpose of this life-which is to have joy and prepare to return to our Father in heaven after this life. That preparation includes learning and becoming perfected through exercising faith unto repentance to live the principles of the Restored Gospel. I know that our Heavenly Father's greatest desire is our happiness and that to help us be happy He has given us commandments. He has given his Son not only to overcome the effects of sin and death, but to provide the perfect example for us to follow. I know that as i obey God's commandments, i am blessed, for i am acting on Eternal Laws. I know that my level of happiness increases directly with my commitment to follow Jesus Christ. So i try to study and learn God's words and do my best to live in harmony with them. When i make mistakes, i apply the healing power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ and keep moving forward. I am most happy when i maintain patience and perseverance as i try to progress and become who God wants me to be.
