Hi I'm Melissa

I was raised a baptist and converted 5 years ago. Now I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I grew up in a small farming town in Central California. I was a single teen mother, and also the birth mother of an adopted child. I met my husband while working at Disneyland, and have been married for almost nine years. We have since had two children together, and moved to Upstate New York. I am now a stay at home mother with three children. I love to read, bake and sew in my free time.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because it is the right way for me. I have changed quite a lot since I converted, and I like the person I am now better. I was raised a baptist, but fell away from all conventional religion in my teen years when I made a series of bad choices. Several years later I found myself married with two children when I on a whim decided to attend a Mormon worship service. I spent an hour sitting on the couch in the foyer and listening to testimonies from inside the chapel sent through a speaker. I felt Heavenly Father's presence that day, and knew that I truly didn't understand a thing about the people there. I started asking questions of a lady sitting in the same foyer with her child, and she directed me to the missionaries. After several months, notebooks full of questions, lots of study and prayer (and two very difficult weeks learning to practice the word of wisdom) I was baptized. That was five years ago, and I have never regretted that decision to attend a meeting and check it out. I know that my Heavenly Father is happy with my decision, and so am I.

How I live my faith

I am currently teach the young women of our branch on Sundays. I love getting to be there for these girls as they transition from being with the kids of our church to being with the adults. Also we get a lot of service opportunities with the young people. Everything from helping other members with yard cleanup to helping put on our annual holiday dinners. Also I continue to study and grow personally as I more closely follow the teachings of Christ.
