Hi I'm Alyssa

I'm a traveler. I'm a student. I love art. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've recently returned serving as a missionary sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the people of Kentucky! I'm now studying art in hopes to become an art teacher. I studied art abroad a semester in Switzerland and that got me sold on changing my major from biology to art. My life is just so full of adventures lately, but the adventure I love the most of all is having had the opportunity to devote 18 months of my life to serve my Heavenly Father and His children by bringing others unto Christ. There is no other task that has brought me greater happiness and personal growth. I know that God is aware of me and that will never change.

Why I am a Mormon

My conversion to the Gospel has given me a firm testimony of the power of missionary work and I look forward to serving as a full time missionary. I am forever grateful to my Savior and all He has done for me. His atonement gives me the strength, support, and grace I need as well as well as correction and forgiveness. I've come to realize that this life is full of course corrections- which are sometimes painful. You don't only need to be on the path, but also moving forward. But through every difficulty I have always come out with greater knowledge and understanding. I've learned to rely more on him and to submit my will to the Father. He has wrought in me "a mighty change of heart" time and time again. I enjoyed the adventures and difficulties that helped me draw closer to Him as I served as a missionary and that will come later in life. I love this Gospel and the direction, strength, and love it has blessed me with and I love sharing it.

How I live my faith

I pray to my Heavenly Father, attend the temple, and read the scriptures to draw closer to my Savior and bring His Spirit of peace into my life. I worship Him in His Holy House and at church every week. I participate in church choir to sing praises to Him. I'm not perfect, but I try every day to let the teachings of Jesus Christ guide my decisions. I seek personal revelation from my Father in Heaven through prayer to lead me in the path He has prepared for me. Because of him, I face my future with faith and hope. My faith is not a prevention against hard times, but it is the relief and refuge available in those hard times. Perhaps faith is not faith until it has been tried and my faith was never tried more than when I was serving my mission to the Lord. But as I waited on the Lord, He showed me He was there and He'd never left. I KNOW that my faith has been proven. I know that He is there, truly. And that each of us can gain that knowledge for ourselves.
