Hi I'm Gary

I'm a retired Non Commissioned Officer in The United States Army. I served In Vietnam era & Desert Storm. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the proud father of one wonderful girl who graduated from high school and has almost completed her Associate degree in music. I love to play guitar, especially classical guitar and am interested in astronomy.

Why I am a Mormon

Being a Mormon is not just going to church. It's a way of life. It's helping in the community, It's being kind and helpful to your fellow person regardless if they're a member or not. It's loving your family and spending quality time with them. Before I became a Mormon, I closely observed Mormon Missionaries that lived next door.. After months of investigation, I finally accepted their invitation to come to visit the church. It happened to be Fast and Testimony Sunday, where members of all ages came to the front of the congregation and shared thanks and blessings and a testimony of their faith. I was especially impressed with the testimony of the little children who marched up to the podium and confidently gave their testimony, speaking of their love for Jesus and their family. Everyone that came up testified that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was true. At the end of the service I was given a copy of the Book of Mormon. I was told the book promised a special blessing to everyone that reads it sincerely. I started reading it and soon I found it hard to stop reading, wondering what was going to happen in the next chapter. This book was a real "page turner". I had to remind myself that this book was not a novel but a sacred book of scripture that gave me more insight as I read on. As I was near the end of the book. I started to understand what the blessing was for me. It was enlightenment. I now had a testimony that the Book of Mormon was true and that Joseph Smith was a modern day Prophet as who else without the help of divine revelation could translate ancient transcripts written in an unknown language to Joseph, on gold plates that in ancient times was the only metal capable of preserving documents for hundreds of centuries. After now having a testimony of my own that Joseph Smith was a true Prophet, I was excited and soon I was baptized and confirmed when I received the gift of the Holy Ghost and became a member.

How I live my faith

I participate in my community by voting during each election season. My companion and I hometeach two wonderful families. My past callings included Stake Single Adults representative for my ward. Iwas also set apart as a Temple worker, performing various Ordinances.
