Hi I'm Lynne

I was born in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, attended Templefield Girls School was baptized 1 November 1978. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of three grown children. I married my husband Ian in May 1984 and we are now proud grandparents of a beautiful little girl who is one year old. I worked at the Dewsbury Police Station for a few years as a prosecutions clerk until I had my first child and then was a stay at home mum which I loved.

Why I am a Mormon

As a young girl I attended our local Methodist Church and then as a teenager our local Church of England. One day two Mormon missionaries knocked on our door and my sister invited them back to speak to me. I had so many questions that I needed answers for and as they started to teach me their beliefs I began to get excited and felt there was something special happening. They asked me to pray about the things they were teaching and I did and just felt that it was right. This was September 1978 and on 1 November I was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon Church), and that decision has been one of the best of my life. I was 19 years old and now at 53 I feel so grateful to those two missionaries who came and taught me about the Saviour and so many marvelous things that have changed the course of my life. As my children have grown up in the church they too have had to find out for themselves if it is right and they have and my family is my greatest blessing. I have three wonderful children and a beautiful granddaughter and so many wonderful friends and each day I try and be the best I can and live my life so that when I leave this life I can be with my family and friends for ever. A testimony is a personal gift and is received as one lives the principles of the gospel but I know the teachings are true and this knowledge came from praying and studying and receiving my personal answer and that is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on 1 November 1978. It has been such a great blessing in my life. I have learned so much that has helped me be a better wife, mother, daughter, sister etc.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Lynne
Most people know that as members of the church we do not drink alcohol, smoke, this is a law of health and it has been beneficial in my left. We try and live a healthy life and the church is a family church and it is very important to be a close family. I love my family very much and we try very hard to spend time together and to help one another. There are so many aspects to a Mormon lifestyle that I know if everyone would try and live they would find so much joy and happiness in their lives because it teaches us how to be honest, kind and hard working and to build a strong and happy family. Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Lynne
I joined the church when I was 19 and was so excited I decided to serve a mission when I was 21, I had not been a member of the church very long but I just wanted to share what I had found with others. I did not go abroad like many of my friends but served in the England Birmingham Mission which covers the West Midlands, Staffordshire etc. It was a great growing experience and I served for 18 months. My husband has also served a mission as have my two sons and we are all so grateful for that experience. Boys are encouraged to go when they are 19 and those who chose to go have found the experience has helped them so much in their life. Show more Show less
