Hi I'm Jason Barrus

I'm from Washington. I love the rain. I love this Gospel. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm from Washington State. I grew up in a small town east of seattle at the foot of the mountains. I love nature and my family. We are always hiking and camping and going shooting when we are together. We love spending time as a family. My parents are gifted in what they do, and together they lead my family in love and unity. I have a deep love for the temple, and now that I'm on my mission in Arizona, my love for Christ and my understanding of His Atonement has deepened so much as well. I used to be a busker in Seattle and I also spent some time in Salt Lake City as well. Busking is simply performing with the expectation that those who appreciate what you do give you a bit of money. I love play the guitar and sing as well as write my own music. I love listening to General Conference talks from all time periods because it helps me feel the spirit and also learn how to better face the challenges of life. I am passionate about this gospel because it has completely changed my life. I have experienced a life outside of the church and away from my family and I have learned for myself that you do not need to go through the garbage of life in order to know that you need God. But I did. The Atonement has changed my life, and this gospel is the most important thing I have. I love serving others, I love being a Representative of Jesus Christ here in Arizona. I would not trade this for anything.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I need this gospel in order to more fully access Christ's Atonement. I am an imperfect Child of God. My mistakes are made on a regular basis, and they add up fast. Through Christ I can be cleansed from sin. I know that this church is true because I have acted upon the words of the prophets. I have read and prayed about the Book of Mormon showing God that I desired to act upon the answer I received. After many nights of reading and praying, I felt in my mind and in my heart that this truly is God's church and I then gained a testimony that we have a living Prophet on the Earth today who leads and guides us through these trying times. There is so much more peace in my life now that I have the Restored Gospel to guide me. I am a Mormon because Christ has absolutely changed my life. I have been on both sides of life, and this side is so much happier.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by continually seeking after truth. I strive to nurture my testimony every day by sharing it with others and by reading from the Book of Mormon and the Bible. In seeking to bless other people's lives, I am drawing closer to God. As a Missionary, my purpose is to invite others to come unto Christ, and being a part of this work is the greatest blessing that I have ever received. I have never been happier and more full of joy than I am right now here in Arizona. I live my faith by opening my mouth, talking to everyone, and by seeking out service oppertunities. I live my faith by smiling.
