Hi I'm Suzie

I am a jazz musician. I teach middle school and high school choir. I play the trombone. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love music! I've played trombone since the 5th grade, have been singing forever in church choir and just at home from a young age. I come from a very musical family. I have been in several college vocal jazz groups and jazz bands, served as an LDS missionary for a year and half in New Mexico, and then finished up a degree in music education. I currently teach middle school and high school choir and sing in a community choir. I love to play, sing, and listen to jazz, and I also have a love of classical music. I love hanging out with my family, reading, playing games (scrabble is my favorite!), and watching movies. I also really enjoy cooking, baking, and eating :)

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because living the gospel of Jesus Christ makes me happy. When I live according to the principles I believe, even when I am struggling and going through hardships, the Lord helps me through those rough times and I learn and am stronger for having gone through those trials. I don't know what I would do without the knowledge that Heavenly Father is aware of my personal struggles and also my desires. That knowledge, which came through several small experiences with the Spirit and feeling Heavenly Father's love, is my anchor in life. My testimony of and conversion (still a work in progress) to the Gospel of Jesus Christ affects all my decisions and actions and guides me to a meaningful and fulfilling life. God has so much more in store for me than I could ever dream up, and even though it is hard sometimes when life gets hard, and the trials are rough, and sometimes I forget temporarily that it is all part of the plan, but knowing that God has a specific plan just for me helps me through the rough spots and gives me the motivation and courage to continue to move forward. I know that by living the gospel and living the way Heavenly Father wants me to I'll be able to return to live with Him and with my family after this life. That is what it is all about.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending church weekly, studying from the scriptures, communicating with my Heavenly Father through prayer, and trying my best to help others and treat them the way Jesus would. I try to act in a way that is true to the principles that Christ taught and to be a positive example to my students. I have a lot of weaknesses and I am not perfect, but I give the best I can everyday and try to do what my Father in Heaven wants me to do.
