Hi I'm Zach

I am student at Brigham Young University Idaho, I play rugby, football and guitar. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love playing sports! Any and all, I will play them. I played a few sports in high school such as football, rugby, wrestling, and track. My favorite would have to be a tie between football and rugby. When I am not playing sports I love to play the guitar. I was actually in a band my senior year of high school and we won a competition and get to record our own song. Pretty cool right? I have an older brother and sister of the family. So yes I am the baby of the family, couldn't ask for anything better! I did two semesters of college at Brigham Young University-Idaho, and I will be leaving on my mission on September 11th to the João Pessoa, Brazil Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

The reason I am Mormon is because I know that following the commandments, reading my scriptures daily, saying my prayers morning and nightly and trying to be more Christlike each day is what brings true happiness. I know this because I have experienced the opposite side of the spectrum, I was doing things that I shouldn't and not living up to the standards that I knew I should be living up to. But when I started doing those small and simple things such as reading scriptures, praying, going to church and obeying the commandments I became happy. The reason why I am going on a mission for 2 years is to bring that same happiness and joy that I have felt to the people of Brazil. There is nothing close to the happiness the gospel can bring into your life, any sin, temptation or worldly thing is trumped by the happiness you can feel by living the gospel of Jesus Christ every day. I testify that is true. That is why I am Mormon.

How I live my faith

Since I am at a Mormon college pretty much the entire student body is a member of the Church. It is really cool being around everyone who has the same standards, it keeps me trying to constantly be at my best. In my ward I am the home teaching coordinator. I make sure everyone does their home teaching and keep record of who has and who hasn't gone home teaching for each month. We are assigned a companion to go home teach. We go to the people or families we have been assigned and visit them and teach them a lesson and help them out with anything they may need. We are supposed to befriend the families we home teach and make sure that they know we are there for them in case of an emergency or some other reason. It is a great opportunity to serve and exercise the priesthood. That was what I did while at college. Now that I am back home I serve as a ward missionary. Basically what I do in that calling is help encourage the ward to make new friends with people outside their normal group they associate with. The goal of this is to have more investigators come to our Church and be baptized. This is the gospel of happiness, and we want to share it with everyone!
