Hi I'm Jacob

I grew up in Texas. I love running and music. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a full-time missionary in Italy. I love the outdoors, especially running and hiking. I think running is one of the most relaxing things someone can do. I also love music. I play the cello and piano. I believe that playing or listening to uplifting music is one of the best ways we feel closer to our Heavenly Father. I believe that our purpose in life is to be happy. Music, running, and being with my family make me happy, but ultimately, the greatest source of my happiness is my faith that God lives and loves us.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised by parents who were in the church. Because I loved my parents and knew they loved me, I wanted to follow in their example. At a certain point, however, each of us, even those raised in the church, must find out for ourselves if it is true and become converted. This was a gradual process for me, but I do remember a several specific times in which I felt the Spirit confirm to me the truthfulness of the Gospel. One experience occurred at age 13 when my friend asked me about the Book of Mormon. As I explained what this sacred scripture is, I felt the Spirit bear witness to my heart that what I was saying is true. I realized that I did have a testimony of it and of the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. Since then, I have strengthened that testimony, and I know that all those who study, ponder, and pray on these teachings can learn the same thing for themselves.

How I live my faith

Growing up, I loved to participate in our church youth activities. I learned to love service as we reached out to others in our community. Through service, I felt my Heavenly Father's love for me and for those we served. Each day I try to love and serve those around me. While all of us fall short of perfectly living the faith we have, I know that our loving Father in heaven helps and encourages us to do better each day.
