Hi I'm Jeff Hipps

I grew up in Pennsylvania, and was not a member of the LDS church, but joined when I was 20 years old.

About Me

I have been a machinist for all of my working life, for the past ten years I have worked at a family business. My wife, my son and I run a small machine shop. We are currently planning to start doing gunsmith work too. I enjoy hunting and being in the outdoors. Our family has also spent time over the last 8 or 9 years building a log cabin. This has been a fun project that we have worked on together with my father, my brother, my son and myself.

Why I am a Mormon

Before I joined the LDS Church I was married to my high school sweet heart and we had 2 young children. My parents were divorced when I was 14 years old, and they had both re-married. My step-father and I worked at the same machine shop, and he was telling me and the others at work that the mormon missionaries had started teaching him and my mother. At first he didn't seem like he believed what they were teaching, but then one day after he had meet with the missionaries again his attatude changed. He said they had told him to pray and ask God if what they were teaching was true; he said he did and that he had received an answer that their teachings were true. From that point on he talked about what they were teaching all the time. I didn't really want to hear about it anymore, so I thought the way to get him to quit talking about it was to read the New teastiment and show him the problems of their teachings. The problem was the more I studied the more convinced I was that what he was telling us the missionaries were teaching was true. To shorten the story it took me about a year of study and prayer to get an answer of my owne that this was indeed the Lord's restored church. I was Baptized a member of the church a year after my mother and step-father. It has been over 30 years now and it has been one of the best decisions of my life.

How I live my faith

I have served in the church in many areas over the years, right now my wife and I travel to the Washington DC Temple 2 days a month to serve there. I have also served as a boyscout leader, and worked with the young men in the church.
