Hi I'm Sydney

I love to learn languages. I am a musician and love all kinds of music. I work as a nanny. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student. I love languages and music. I have played the violin for 14 years and absolutely love it. I taught myself to play the piano and am always looking for new pieces to learn. I enjoy listening to a wide range of genres and am always looking for new music. I know American Sign Language and love to use it whenever I can. I am also studying French and Spanish. I enjoy traveling and taking road trips. My favorite place I have visited is Washington D.C. I love American history, government, and politics. I have four nieces. I adore these girls and they are a special part of my life. We enjoy being silly and going on adventures. My family is priority, but I also love being with my friends. I love the gospel and the peace it brings to my life.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are both members and I grew up attending church. I am not a Mormon because of this alone. When I was 15 I really started to wonder if the church was true. I began to pray and ponder and asked Heavenly Father for revelation to know that what I was doing was right. I read the Book of Mormon cover to cover and at the end prayed. I received a burning feeling in my chest and I knew it was my answer. The Holy Ghost whispered to me then that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was truly the Lord's church on the earth today. As I live gospel principles I find joy and peace in my life. I have seen God's hand and feel of His love daily. This is why I am a Mormon. I am more joyful when I live by those standards. I am more service oriented and I am more blessed. I feel my Savior's love and learn more about the Atonement every day. I am always able to progress, forgive, and be forgiven.

How I live my faith

Living my faith requires daily attention to the things I should be doing. I pray and communicate with Heavenly Father on a daily basis. I read from the Bible and the Book of Mormon on a daily basis. I attend classes two-three times a week outside of church. These Institute classes help me to better understand the doctrine and principles found in the scriptures. I am currently serving a mission which means all my time is dedicated to teaching the gospel. I study scriptures, pray, and teach every day. I work with people who are investigating the church and teach them what we believe.

Are Mormons Christians?

We are Christians. "Mormons" is a nickname. The official name of "the Mormon church" is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We believe in the Bible as long as it is translated correctly. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Christ. The Savior, Jesus Christ, is the perfect example and each member strives to follow His example. We focus on the doctrine and teachings of the Savior. All of our service, scripture, and goals are oriented around the Savior and His ministry. Show more Show less
