Hi I'm Niki McOmber

I am a student. A world traveler. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a full-time single student working toward getting my nursing degree. I am also a Registered Medical Assistant. I enjoy reading, playing the piano, and honing my cooking skills. I am all for doing fun things, despite the fact that I'm not very good at coming up with the ideas. I absolutely love my family, immediate and extended, and love making memories with them. I have had the opportunity to travel the world since I was a little girl. I have lived in various countries for extended periods of time and because of this opportunity I have deep respect for many cultures, religions, and people. I currently am serving a full-time honorable mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon, because I choose to be. Yes, I was brought up in this church. However, with any major decision in life that you wish to never regret, you must make the decision on your own.Your parents cannot make the decision for you. They gave me the foundation of finding truth, and expected me to use that to discover for myself the answers to my questions. So I did. I got down on my knees, during a really hard time in my life, when I didn't know what to do, what was true, what to believe, or where to go. I prayed to God. He answered my prayers. And continues to answer them. Whenever I have a question, or need an answer, I get down on my knees and read the Book of Mormon. I know that He will never forsake me and will always answer me. I choose to live this religion because I know it is true. It has blessed every facet of my life, and it continues to shape me into a better person.

How I live my faith

I wouldn't be the person I am without this gospel. I wake up, and get on my knees. I read my scriptures every day to draw closer our Savior, Jesus Christ. I talk about my beliefs as comments in class, intentionally or unintentionally. I actively participate in church activities multiple times in the week. On Monday we have what is called Family Home Evening. We come together as church members to have fun through, service, learning a new skill, or any other ideas we may have. Sometime in the month I visit other women to share a spiritual message with them and ask them how they are doing. Other times I go visit, with others in my congregation, to find those we haven't seen in a while. We want to make sure they are doing ok, or if they need help with anything. There is always something to do. It is a consistent daily effort, to try and follow Jesus Christ's example.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Niki McOmber
We are pretty normal people. We do everyday activities, celebrate holidays, and enjoy the weekend. We only differ, in the fact, that we may be a little more active in our daily striving to do and be as the Savior would have us be. We try to read scriptures every day, pray every day (multiple times a day), attend church meetings, hold Family Home Evening once a week, and visit those who are going through a hard time or who may be sick. We're human and definitely not perfect, we all try on our own levels to do what we can. Show more Show less
