Hi I'm David Read

I was born in Houston, I live in San Diego. I love sports and music. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I love playing all sports and have always enjoyed exercising and staying fit. I played football, waterpolo basketball, rugby and baseball in high school. I would say that I am competetive at most all sports. I love making music and feeling the beauty that lies within. I enjoy the piano and writing songs thereon, though I have played other instruments such as the recorder, penny whistle and alto saxaphone. I also enjoy singing all types of music to get closer to, those around me, to the world and to my Father in heaven. I am currently serving a mission in Benin Cotonou (Africa)

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon for many reasons. I was raised in this church but it wasn't until just a few years ago that I fully came to a knowledge of the captivating power that it holds. I have searched much of my teenage life for the true word of God, trying to find my place in the world amidst the clamor of High School and College. I wanted to know what I should do, who I should be within this world where we have been reduced to resumés, job applications and grade point averages. I wanted to know that I was unique somehow, to know that though we have been conformed by society to be one way and to avoid an outward expression of our inner most desires we are all truly different and individuals with destinies without synonomy each with our own beginning middle and end. Amongst this struggle I made some poor choices, nothing criminal but ones that I knew should not have been made. Through the teachings of my childhood, I sought restitution for the things I had done in the only way that I knew how: asking Heavenly Father for forgiveness. Through a series of miracles, I came to know Christ and His atonement and that I had a place in life. That my past transgressions were no longer hindrances, but starting blocks from which I could propel myself forward to excel in life whilst still being myself. For that, I love this gospel and the lessons that it has taught me. I love my savior and redeemer Jesus Christ! I am a Mormon!

How I live my faith

I have served actively at Church as leaders and teachers. I love serving other people and helping them to grow closer to the Lord to the best of my ability. Truly through service and seeing the service of others, have I have come to love this church.
