Hi I'm Misty

I am a country girl.I enjoy sewing, cooking, dancing, time with my nieces and nephews, and providing hope to less fortunate people.

About Me

I am a convert to the church. I have a passion and love for helping people that stems from my own experiences of conversion that instilled in me the Savior's love for me and gave me purpose and direction for my life. I am a country girl at heart. I love to sew, cook, dance, and play in the dirt, work with animals, and learn about cars when I get the chance. I recently graduated from BYU-I in Social Work. My passion is working with adolescents and helping them see their potential through being a positive role- model and providing them with tools to be successful in their lives. In my downtime, I enjoy playing with my nieces and nephews. I also enjoy putting on events, teaching dance, and hiking.

Why I am a Mormon

As I have participated in the principles and ordinances of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I have experienced a change of heart and received confirmation again and again that my Father in Heaven is aware of me and the LDS church is His church. Through these principles, I have learned that I have someone that knows me, loves me, and hears my prayers. In every stage of my life, my testimony of the Church has grown as I have utilized its principles to guide my decisions and help me through trials. As I follow the instruction given by leaders of the church as well as model the teaching found in the Book of Mormon and Bible, attend the temple, and participate in service opportunities, I feel close to my Father in Heaven. Through the Holy Ghost, I receive confirmation that Father guides the direction of my life, helps me in making decisions, and provides me with comfort and peace. I am a Mormon because as I follow the teachings of the church, I feel close to my Father in Heaven and receive confirmation that I am doing what He would like me to do.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by acting in faith. First and foremost I invite the Spirit of God into my life everyday by reading talks given by the leadership of the church and reading sacred works that teach me about Jesus Christ including but not limited to the Book of Mormon and the Holy Bible. I participate and honor the opportunity to serve in the church through callings given to me by church leaders. I pray each day and follow the counsel given through those with the authority of God to direct me. After I have invited the spirit of God, I show that I am prepared and have been edified by keeping the commandments, working hard, being joyful, and providing service to others.

Why is it important for us to take care of our bodies? Why are our bodies called temples of God in the Bible?

I enjoy dancing. In my few years of dancing, I have experienced times when I performed very well as well as times when I have performed very low. At times the cause of my lack of performance came from my diet and lack of care for my physical body. Other times my lack of performance attributed to the distress on my spirit from dealing with anxiety, sin, or trials. Through these experiences, I have realized that my performance in any event can heighten or weaken depending on the attention I give to both the spiritual and physical aspects of my body. In Corinthians 3:16, the apostle Paul refers to our bodies as a temple. This analogy of the temple reflects both the eternal significance of the human spirit and provides emphasis on the respect that we should have for the physical part of our bodies. Just as one would not deface a church or other sacred place, so should one have respect for both the building itself and the significance of what goes on inside the building. Show more Show less
