Hi I'm Sam

I grew up in Madison, Alabama. I enjoy swimming competitively and watching any kind of sports. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the seventh child of eight kids total. Being on the caboose end has proposed many different opportunities and of course many different challenges. I only have one brother (that's right, that leaves me with six sisters) and he is ten years older than I am. Being the only two sons has really made me appreciative of him. What I am getting at is that one of my favorite things to do is spend time with my brother. We usually kick back and take it easy by watching sports or playing video games. I do have a serious side as well. I work at a deli inside a Food Pyramid grocery store. I study the Book of Mormon thirty minutes a night and every now and again I get to teach Sunday school. All in all, I am a pretty relaxed and easy person to get along with.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I was born into it. I used to envy those who had amazing conversion stories. Now I see things much differently, and I know that I am truly blessed to have been born into this church. I continue to remain active in the church for several reasons. My main reason is because I know undoubtedly that it is the Church of God. I know that the Book of Mormon is true, and that it was translated by Joseph Smith. I know that we have a true prophet on this earth today. People ask me why I would devote two consecutive years of my live to serve a mission. It is because I know that the prophet is truly the mouthpiece of our God. The prophet has asked me to serve a mission. I cannot deny any of this, nor will I ever deny any of this. I am a Mormon because I have a testimony.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in a few different ways. I attend church every single Sunday. At church I have different responsibilities. One I really enjoy is teaching the Gospel Principles class. Being able to teach the lesson puts me in a very interesting perspective. I get much more out of the lesson. I also live my faith by being worthy to attend the Temple and to serve a full time mission. I was recently called to serve as a full time missionary in the Manila, Philippines Mission. Serving the Lord wherever he would have me serve is surreal. The Philippines will be a challenge, I can sense that now. But I know that the Lord and I will be successful as I do the work through him.
