Hi I'm Veronica

I'm a 2006 adult convert. I grew up in NE Ohio, joined the church in Arizona. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi I'm Veronica, and yes, I'm a Mormon. I have been a single mother, raising five children alone since 1994. After a move to Arizona, I met a member of the Church and fell in love ... with the Church! I am a Kent State Graduate and have done some graduate studies with Grand Canyon University. I am a "lay" artist ... I enjoy various mediums as well as mask making. I really love having the great Gila Wilderness at my back door ... and enjoy photography and hiking.

Why I am a Mormon

I was in search of the "true" church for more than thirty years. I was brought up in a fundamentalist Baptist Church, was baptized Catholic, later confirmed in the Episcopal church and later joined the Bahai faith. In all of these settings, I felt some truth, but inevitably would sense that "this" isn't how Jesus would have taught his gospel. When I sat in sacrament meeting for the first time, I knew how we celebrated the sacrament was exactly how Jesus taught his disciples. I felt in my heart that my search had paid off! I later began studies with the missionaries. I was single, so many times, we had our lessons on the front stoop of my porch! I can still see the brother missionaries, sipping our hot cocoa and answering my questions and simply suggesting that I pray to know the truth. I was baptized into the church in 2006. I have come to understand that conversion is a process... not an event. I moved to OH in 2009 and became inactive. However, I did maintain constant contact with my visiting teacher ... a sister, who befriended me and held me close. Since my move to New Mexico, I have again, been drawn to the teachings of my church, and have accepted my responsibility for my ongoing conversion. I find attending services, reading my scriptures, being in constant contact with my Heavenly Father keeps me hopeful, helpful and content with my earth walk. I have just renewed my covenants, and have made a commitment to practice the discipline necessary to receive the promises offered in our scriptures. Its more simple ...than it is easy! But with the support of my church community, all is as it should be... all is well.

How I live my faith

I love the Church because its not a "sunday" church, we're active every day! I'm new to our ward so haven't been given a job yet :) I have worked in Primary classes for the youth, very active with Visiting Teaching and participate when ever there's an activity. As an example we're having an Enchilada cook off this weekend ....open to our entire community ... what fun!
