Hi I'm Nora

I grew up in Oregon. I am one of seven children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married with three children and two grandchildren. I enjoy music, travel, genealogy, scrap booking, gardening, stamp collecting, cooking, sewing, reading and old movies. I love to learn about history and archeology. I like to host parties. Most of all I love spending time with our family. Our children keep us laughing which keeps us young. We have treasured family traditions that bring us joy and strengthen our family ties. I am so grateful for my family and the memories that keep us close.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of my faith. I know that when I am faithful to the teachings of Jesus Christ I can recognize His hand in my life. He blesses me with answers to the questions that I have about living on the earth, about what is next after this life and about the difficult things that happen to me and to others that don't seem to make much sense. I am a Mormon because the teachings of eternal family rings true for me. Our family enjoys being together and laughing together and supporting each other when there are trials. Love is strengthened as we meet these trials knowing that we have the promise of eternal life with our Heavenly Father. This knowledge teaches me that I am never alone. I am a Mormon because it makes sense to have a living prophet on the earth like the prophets of old, teaching us true principles to guide our lives just like the prophets of old. A kind, and loving Father would not leave us in these times without His guidance. I am a Mormon because I believe I am a daughter of a kind and loving Father who has prepared a Plan of Happiness for all of His children to get back to our heavenly home where He is waiting to welcome us home. I believe that Plan depended on the willingness of His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to pay the price for our sins so that through repentance we can make ourselves clean enough to once again be in their presence. I am a Mormon because I have prayed and asked if it is right and through the Holy Ghost I have felt His answer.

How I live my faith

Each day I look for opportunities to make others happy. My faith has shown me how to be happy in life and I see so many people who are lonely or sad or hurting and I want to do what I can to lift them up. I believe that a kind word, a light heart and a genuine smile can make a huge difference in a day. It is through the love of the Savior that we can help to ease the burdens that so easily drag us down. Being part of a Church community provides me a connection to others through service opportunities. At Church I never need to feel alone and I am able to serve others and learn to love others who I may never have met in my normal course of life. This gives me a real sense of being part of Heavenly Father's family. I particularly enjoy serving the children at Church and at local schools. I have been blessed to be able to teach children to enjoy singing as an expression of peace and love and awareness of the wonderful world in which we live; the creations of a loving Father in Heaven. Children are inspiring in their simple faith and unconditional love. As I have become older I have enjoyed serving as a full time missionary again with my husband. We have served two full time missions for our Church and have loved each of those opportunities. Our second mission was in the Singapore Mission but we served in Kuching, East Malaysia on the island of Borneo. We came to love so many people there and hope to remain friends with them forever. They are sweet, humble people. I know that through the atonement of Jesus Christ we can all return to live with our Father in Heaven as families. I am so grateful to live each day by this faith. I know that we have a prophet of God on the earth today just as in days long ago. I am grateful that through this prophet I can know how to live my life so I can have this blessing of a forever family. I know God lives. I know He is a kind and loving Heavenly Father who wants us all to be with Him again.
