Hi I'm Austin

I was born in Utah and am serving a mission in the Philippines. I love family, friends, and the outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I had the time of my life in my first semester of college and am now serving a two year mission in the Philippines. I'm learning to speak Tagalog, and I truly am excited for all to come on this mission! I love sports and in my time in high school I wrestled. It became part of who I am and taught me amazing lessons for life over those eight years. I love to do things; things like hiking, running, climbing, biking, diving, swimming, and so on. I am happiest when I spend time with my faith and those I love -- my close friends and family. I have worked a few different jobs, but mostly manual labor like my last job of a mover.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into an LDS family, but that doesn't mean I am a member now because of it. My family loved and raised me, but it took my teenage boy heart and mind a little while to find my testimony and decide to truly become a convert to the Church. I was baptized at age eight and coasted along in the church with my family and felt the blessing of the gospel in my life early on, but it wasn't until I was about 16 or 17 that I gained real conviction. I went through some rough times and was guided, along with my closest friend who I refer to as my brother, to find Christ. I felt of his love in my life and I felt overpowering feelings in my heart when I was truly humbled and turned to my Father in Heaven in prayer. Since then I have been so blessed by my testimony for it is the only sure thing in my life and it is what I have chosen to make the foundation of my life. I know without a doubt that my Savior Jesus Christ and my Heavenly Father live and are real. I know that they love me with an overpowering and perfect love and they have the same personal love for you. I know that I can find peace from my wrong doings and wrongs I receive from life and others through the atonement of Jesus Christ. I know that the fulness of God's true gospel is here on the earth today. I am grateful for the blessings of prayer and priesthood keys that are on the earth for tools to help us return to live with God again. I know that families can be forever and am so grateful for that. I love my fellow men and hope that everyone may feel of the love and peace I feel in my life from the gospel.

How I live my faith

I find that the best way for me personally to live my faith is by trying to follow Christ's example by serving those around me; trying each day to find a way to give meaningful service to some individual my path may cross. In my church I am blessed to be able to serve as a co-chair on a service committee. I also visit a couple members in my area monthly with my roommate in college and we check in on them, see how it's going, and share a message about the gospel for the month. I also occasionally have the opportunity to share my faith with those who are curious, and like I mentioned earlier, I will be serving a two year mission in the Philippines in a matter of days.
