Hi I'm Joshua

I was born and raised in Salem, Oregon. I speak my mind. I am most definitely a Mormon.

About Me

I love to sing-I was in 3 advanced choirs in highschool and was made a tenor section leader in all 3. My highschool choir took first place in the Oregon state competition and first place in the "Best of Northwest" competition, and was grammy nominated. I love basketball, swimming (swimteam), football, and many other sports. I played sports throughout school growing up as a kid. I was a swimteam captain my senior year in highschool. I really enjoy weight lifting-it's probably my favorite hobby. I am an eagle scout and love high venture activities such as: white water rafting, deep cave exploring/spelunking, mountain biking, and more. I know how to dance-I was in 3 musicals through my highschool and was placed as a featured dancer, and I really enjoy just dancing for fun. I beat box-have been for about 6 years now, and did it for my jazz choir my junior and senior year of highschool. I just finished my freshman year in college at BYU-Idaho and love the school. I enjoy reading from good books and certain history and english textbooks-weird, I know- but they're interesting. Finally, I enjoy just talking and hanging out with good friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church, but upon turning 18 years old (when i could choose) I decided to stay active. This was an automatic/easy choice for me-seeing how some other youth I knew struggled with that decision and decided to leave. I knew at that point it was because I had a firm testimony founded upon the principles of the gospel. I also realized that growing up in the gospel or being a member all your life doesn't mean that one is truly converted to the gospel. I've read the Book of Mormon and have found out for myself that it is true, and the spirit is what bore witness to me of it's truthfulness. I know that Joseph Smith was called of God to bring forth this Great book unto translation for the benifit of all mankind, for the words that are in it are truly inspired of God. I know that there is a true and living prophet among us today and his name is Thomas S. Monson, and I know this because God loves his children and wishes for us to return to his presence and this can only be done through "the revealing of his words to the prophets" and God is the same yesterday, today, and forever which means he does still speek to his children through a living prophet. I know with all my heart that the Atonement is real and is intended for all mankind to use. I know that Christ is real...and that he Lives. And I know that this is his church...and this is my solemn testimony, even in the name of him who is Jesus the Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

I've been in many leadership positions throughout the youth program in my church, such as: Deacon's Quorum President- deacon(s); which are boys in the youth program from ages 12-13 Teacher's Quorum President- teacher(s); boys in the youth program from ages 14-15 and Priest Quorum's 1st Assistant: Priest(s); boys in the youth program from ages 16-18 When I was 16, I was co-chair in the stake youth committee- which is a committee of youth (2 youth) from each ward (about 8 wards, about 15-25 youth per ward) that decide on activities for all the youth in the stake-a co-chair is one of two of those youth on that committee that are in charge of the committee and run the meetings and lead assignments and projects.
