Hi I'm Wayland

I grew up in a little farm town in Utah. I enjoy serving people through church and scouting activities. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy a great deal of hobbies and interests. One of my favorite pastimes is working or playing with my family. Some of my other interests include:hiking/backpacking, robotics, rocketry, books, soccer, and music. I am currently serving as a full-time missionary in the California Los Angeles Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? It is really a simple answer. I simply know that what my church teaches is true. I know that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is true. I know that Christ is my Savior, and I know that he has restored is true church in modern times through Joseph Smith Jr. I also know Joseph Smith Jr. to be the first true prophet since the time of Christ's apostles. I know that there is a living prophet today in President Thomas S. Monson. Above all, I know the power of Christ's atonement for me, that through him I can return to dwell in God's presence, and be exalted. So why do I continue to follow Christ's Gospel? I know it is true, and I cannot, nor will I ever, deny it. How do I know its all true? I prayed and asked God, and he really did answer my prayers by telling me it was true, through the power of his Holy Spirit. This is what it means to say, "I am a Mormon".

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing my best to follow the example of Jesus Christ. I am not perfect by far, and I use the atonement everyday, but that is part of living the faith. Repenting, and trying to do better. The atonement is real, our Heavenly Father truly sent his Son Jesus Christ, because he loves us. Through the grace of Christ we are saved. The only thing he asks in return is the we follow the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Faith, repentance, baptism, receiving the Gift of The Holy Ghost, and Enduring to the end. That is how I try and live the faith.

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

We believe God is our perfect, loving Heavenly Father. He is all-powerfull, but he is also kind, and merciful as well as a just God. We believe he as a body that is similar to ours, but perfect, immortal, and surrounded by a glory that is indescribable. We believe we are his children, and that we lived with him before our birth. We thus also believe that he knows and loves each of us individually. Because he loves us, he wants us to be like him, so he sent us to earth to find joy, and experience. He wants us to live with him once again, after this life, and he has a plan to help us come back to him. Because he loves us so much he sent his Only-Begotten Son, The Saviour Jesus Christ, to atone for our sins, and to be resurrected so that we can repent and be clean. This atoning sacrafice allows us to once again be in the presence of Our Father, and Living God. Show more Show less
