Hi I'm Linda

I am a mother of five and grandmother of nine. I have traveled to many countries. I love to hike and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the wilds of Oregon, consequently I love anything outdoors. I love to hike, garden, do yard work, and play outside with my nine grandchildren. I've even competed in running events and triathlons, and that was after I turned 59. My five children were all very active in sports while growing up, and I was always right there to watch them. I have had the opportunity to live overseas, in Cuba and Spain, while my husband was a JAG officer in the U.S. Navy. We have traveled to places far and near over the past 30 years.. The world is full of interesting and wonderful people. I love to learn and try to keep up on all the current events. I read books for pleasure and for learning. I paint scenery on furniture and flowerpots! I love to share my life and my thoughts on a blog and other social media.

Why I am a Mormon

My mother, along with my two older brothers, was converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when I was a small child. She never looked back. I was baptized at the age of eight, but really wasn't converted until my mid-twenties. And then I never looked back. There was such a drastic difference from life before and my life after accepting Jesus Christ as my Savior and my Redeemer that I could not nor would not ever return to being "lost." His Church teaches me about the atonement, forgiveness, and love. I know I found true joy and happiness. The joy that comes from following the way of Christ and his commandments fills me to overflowing. I have a testimony that I belong to His true Church on the earth today. The scriptures have taught me this truth. The prophet and the apostles have also taught me this truth. I believe them. And I believe Jesus Christ when He says, "I am the way, the truth and the life." John 14:6 I have put these teachings to the test; I have experimented upon the word (Alma 32:27) and by the spirit of the Holy Ghost, he has testified to me they are true.

How I live my faith

I am a teacher in an adult Sunday School class. We are studying the scriptures, specifically The Book of Mormon this year. Teaching adults is not particularly easy, but I have loved the study and preparation because of how much I learn. Mostly, I have served the youth over the past many years; a great place to be. They are eager to learn and very impressionable. It is an awesome responsibility. I have worked in each organization, from young children to old adults! I think my service in the Church has enhanced my life way more than the lives I've been responsible for. What a blessing! In the community I volunteer as a hospital chaplain. And I just finished three years as a court volunteer for victims of crime.
