Hi I'm Taylor Porter

I grew up in California. I attend college full time and I work. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 18 years old, I attend college full time and I work. I enjoy reading and hanging out with my friends. I grew up in an area where it is very difficult sticking to my standards. But with the help of some great friends and ecclesiastical leaders I have been able to stay true to myself and be who I want to be. I hope to be able to get married one day. I enjoy watching super hero movies and fantasy action shows. I love listening to country and pop music along with theatrical music as well. I love spending time with my friends. I love to watch football and sports n general, and I find it even more fun to play them.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe in Jesus Christ. This church centers around Jesus Christ and is being led by him today. A difference that I have found that separates this church from others is that the Mormon church has a living prophet today. I believe that Jesus Christ died for us so that we can repent of our sins and live with him again. Without His sacrifice I would not be here today. This church has the power of God on earth today called the Priesthood. I have been blessed and am fortunate enough to have the priesthood and to use it. I believe in the Book of Mormon, I have felt it's truthfulness while studying its words. It stands alongside the Bible as the word of God and they are truly are testaments of Jesus Christ. This church was taken off the earth after the death of the apostles thousands of years ago, but was restored by Joseph Smith through the inspiration of God. I know this to be true because I have prayed and asked. I have prayed if this church was true and I have been told that it is. I have been given the opportunity to serve as a representative of Jesus Christ and His church by serving a mission. I leave in early 2013 and will serve for 2 years in Mexico. I am so excited to be able to Serve Jesus Christ by helping His children. I know this church to be true, I have prayed for myself. You can too, I promise.

How I live my faith

I have three families that I am assigned to check up on and teach every month. I love doing this because I get to serve and help people if things are tough. I have served as a president of the group of kids my age and have worked very closely with my Bishop. I currently serve as a teacher of kids ages 8-9. I LOVE teaching these kids, they are so smart and I feel like I am definitely learning more from them than they are from me. These kids are our future and it makes me happy to know the kind of people that will one day contributing to the world. It has been a humbling experience teaching these kids but it has brought me overwhelming joy. I have helped serve in community activities and in Boy Scouts. I did a project as a part of scouts to help prevent child drowning, it brought me so much happiness knowing that I was possibly helping save lives. Serving brings so much happiness to me and I love doing it.
