Hi I'm Steve

I am a child of my Father in Heaven and I know Jesus Christ is my Savior. I am a Christian, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was raised on a small farm where my parents loved me and taught me the value of work, faith and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Prayer was always a part of my life, which led to my baptism at age eight. At nineteen I completed a two-year mission in the Central States and then went on to Brigham Young University to complete my education. I was drafted into the Army during the Vietnam conflict and I served as a Chaplain’s Assistant for two years. I often found myself in awe as I observed the love and commitment of individuals of many faiths. The smartest decision I ever made was to marry my best friend and eternal companion 41 years ago. Since that time, I have completed a 33-year career in education administration, and we have raised six beautiful, independent children. Currently, fifteen children call me Grandpa.

Why I am a Mormon

Throughout my life, my Father in Heaven has always been there to hear my prayers. Now in my latter years, I am humbled by the many times He has quietly answered my pleas for help and brought me peace. Like many people in and out of the Mormon faith that I embrace, I have felt his spirit and experienced His love. I am a Christian, because I know Jesus Christ is my redeemer and He lives. As a Christian, I have read the Book of Mormon and studied the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Through prayer, study and listening to the feelings that He gives me, I have come to a sure knowledge of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and the Church. As surely as I know Jesus Christ lives and the Bible to be the word of God, I, also, know the Book of Mormon to be a second witness of His life and teachings. Jesus Christ lives today and He has established His Church and His Priesthood Authority back upon the earth in our time. I am a Mormon because “I have felt His spirit and experienced His love” and I have received witness to this truth.

How I live my faith

Christ’s Gospel has always provided a clear path that I can follow, but perfection is far from easy. My personal guiding goals in living my faith are few: 1. Christ is my Savior; I try to honor Him with my actions. 2. My wife and family are my most valued blessings. 3. Service to others brings me happiness – my neighbor is important to me. 4. Charity is a part of almost every decision I make. 5. Being a person of integrity is important to me. Living my faith provides a foundation of security and happiness.
