Hi I'm Halee Averett

I was born in Arizona, raised in Utah. I'm an anatomy nerd, I love Nanowrimo, I'm pretty much a huge goofball, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I was born in Arizona and lived there for 11 years until we moved to Utah. My life has been far from perfect, but I know I have been majorly blessed reguardless of my circumstances. I developed an auto-immune disease when I was about 17 that causes a lot of physical pain, called Fibromyalgia. It definitely shook my perception of the what my life could be, I felt pretty hopeless and I didn't know what to do or where to turn. I went through a lot of physical and emotional turmoil and for six months I spent most of my time lying in bed and crying. I longed to be normal again, to be pain free, to be ME again. I felt stuck in my circumstances and like there was no way out. Then one day I realized that I didn't have to live like that, I couldn't choose my circumstance, but I could choose how I reacted. Maybe, I couldn't do everything that all the other girls my age could, but I could make the most of the blessings I did have. I found strength in the faith that I have. I found solace in my Savior and knowing that he knew exactly how I felt every moment of the day. I knew I wasn't alone in my suffering and when I wasn't enough, He was. When I had nothing left to give, He gave more. I had days that were harder than others, and I still do, but by putting my trust in the Lord I am able to overcome. By relying on Him I've been able to do something that I never thought possible, serve a mission. I've learned that I really can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon simply because I know its true. I have found great peace and happiness in embracing this church and living its standards. I've seen the way that it has blessed my family as we have grown closer to each other and to God. The knowledge the church has brought me has helped me to see that I am not just what I see here and now, but an eternal daughter of God, and because of that my circumstances don't have to define me. I can change, grow, and become better and I don't have to be stuck in my imperfections.

How I live my faith

I volunteered to serve a full-time mission because I believe so strongly in it. I love teaching people about this church because I am very passionate about it. My faith is part of who I am, without it I just wouldn't be me! I try to live each day showing my Father in Heaven how much I love Him by keeping His commandments and striving to follow Christ.

What is faith?

Halee Averett
Faith is having a deep trust in God. Trusting that no matter what our circumstances, our Heavenly Father loves us and is leading us. Its more than just a passive belief that He is there, when we have faith it leads us to act, to do something about it. Faith leads us to keep the commandments of God, to follow Jesus Christ by trying to live by His example, and to trust that when we do fall short that Christ can heal us if we allow Him to. Knowing that the sacrifice He made was not only to save us, but to change us. Show more Show less
