Hi I'm Shelli

I'm a Mormon! I love my Savior. I know I am a daughter of God. I want everyone to know their purpose and God's love!

About Me

I grew up in Southern California and currently live outside Las Vegas. I am a mother of five children. My parents joined the LDS church when I was three years old. I love to sing and play the piano. I'm an avid reader and enjoy puzzles and word games. My greatest joy comes from being a wife and mother. Teaching my children about the Savior and our Father in Heaven is very important in today's world.

Why I am a Mormon

The gospel of Jesus Christ brings me inner peace. I know who I am, why I am here, and my purpose. I know that when I leave this earthly existence I will return to live with my Father in Heaven. I know that my family is part of an eternal unit and we can be together forever. This knowledge is so important to me. I love my family and I would never want to be without them. I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior and that He was born to Mary and lived here on the earth. He taught the people of our Father in Heaven and His plan. Christ prayed in the Garden of Gethsamane and took upon Himself my sins, my shortcomings, my failures, my sadness, my hurt, my pain...He took that burden away from me. In doing so, I can be forgiven of my sins when I repent. I can have God's spirit with me. When I entered the waters of baptism I took upon myself Christ's name and covenanted to follow Him and keep God's commandments. I know that I can be like my Father if I repent of my sins, follow Christ's example, pray, read the scriptures, attend church, pay my tithes, and keep the commandments. This Church is true. There is no doubt in my mind of that. God loves me. He know who I am. He wants me to be happy and return to live with Him again. That's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I have participated in choirs and other musical venues. I have taught Sunday lessons in the women's group, as well as Sunday School. I have worked extensively with the children's organization. In college I served as a local missionary. Each day I live my faith by praying to our Father in Heaven, reading the scriptures and being an example to others by following Christ.

What is done with the tithing that Mormons pay?

Members of the church are asked to pay tithes, one tenth of our earnings. This morning is used to construct all church buildings and necessary operations of the Church (our leaders are not paid for their service). Tithes also fund the world-wide missionary effort (missionaries pay for their own mission service). All church materials (lesson manuals, scriptures, pictures, etc.) are prepared with the use of tithes. The church's education program is funded through tithes (seminaries, institutes and colleges and universities, with students paying their own tuition). The church collects fast offerings, separate from tithes, to help those in need. The Church also established a Perpetual Education Fund, separate from tithes, to assist those in other countries to have an education to better themselves and find gainful employment.
