Hi I'm Joseph Hartshorn

I was born in Provo, lived in Japan, grew up in Washington, and currently serving a mission in Houston Texas! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love sports! if it involves a ball and physical movement I'll be the first one on the court, field, or in the ring. In high school I played football and threw in track and field. I love the competition and even get riled up in games of chess. I had my Eagle Scout award by the time I was fourteen and enjoy hard work. I sweat whenever I do anything active, even if it is the middle of winter. I also have a food aversion to white creamy foods because of an experience I had with fish paste while living in Japan as a two year old. This means no mashed potatoes, no yogurt and absolutely no Ice Cream! Yuck! Just kidding, I have learned to like Ice cream again.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was eight, I made the choice to be baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. Ever since then I have been growing spiritually learning from mistakes and becoming a better person. I have learned that even though we make mistakes, we can repent and become better. I have a testimony of The Book of Mormon that it is the word of God. Anyone that reads it with the real sincere intent of finding out the truthfulness of it will be given an answer of the truthfulness of the book. With that also comes a testimony of the prophet Joseph Smith. I have a testimony of these things and my testimony still grows everyday. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Although I haven't had too many callings other than being a leader in my own age group, I can say that I have done this with a happy heart hoping that I can be an example to my piers and be able to help them on their path to becoming who they want to become. I have learned that as a teenager I can still make a big difference through my service to those that need it. Especially the widows and the fatherless. I enjoy the feelings that I get when I help people and I know that feeling comes from the spirit.
