Hi I'm Lauren

I'm a daughter. I'm a college student. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I'm a college freshman this year. In high school I was a techie, which is basically all the cool background/behind-the-scenes stuff for school plays and musicals in the theatre. I like trying to figure out how things work and on occasion go dirt biking, which is pretty awesome. I do a lot of school work, but I also just try to take time to just chill with my friends and unwind from the day.

Why I am a Mormon

I have often thought of why I am a Mormon and I came to a pretty solid conclusion I thought. I believe that Christ is my Savior and that he atoned for my sins. I also believe that doing so would've been really hard, and if He didn't have a plan for all of us, what's the point in going through all that pain. Lots of other church's really can't explain what this plan is exactly. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints explains that we chose to come here in a pre-mortal life to be tested to see if we would make the right choices to come back to live with our Heavenly Father and have all the glory that He does. Heavenly Father actively wants everybody to come back to Him, but we have to do our part with striving our very best to live his commandments. This church has helped me gain purpose and direction in my life. Because of the church I know that I can live with my loved ones again once they have passed on, forever and ever.

How I live my faith

I was a pretty active participant in the youth program we had while I was still in high school, we call it Young Women's. I was able to serve the ladies around me by being the president of the 16-18 year olds for about a year and half. That was really cool because I was able to organize fun activities that helped those around me strengthen their faith and serve and just have fun too. It was awesome to be able to get to know all the people around you very well and come to love them like sisters. Right now I'm away at college and so I keep going to church every Sunday, and when we actually plan it out I go hang out with my "Family Home Evening" family on Monday nights. It's just something to remind me of how family life is and also grow spiritually through lessons with my new friends in the ward.

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

We aren't perfect, nobody but Christ is. But God commanded us to follow a certain set of rules and if we don't, we have sinned and are unfit to live in His presence. So it is by grace we are saved so to speak. But it's not grace alone, we have to work as hard as we can to follow the rules that God has given us, and when we sin, we do need to repent of it. Only after we have done our best to live upright in the law, and repented of all we can, does the grace we receive from Christ's atonement carry us the rest of the way home. Show more Show less
