Hi I'm Shayne

I grew up in the state of Utah. I was a competitive swimmer for 7 years before graduating high school. I am a Mormon.

About Me

When I was younger I was really in to competitive swimming. I swam for seven years, and took 3rd place in the state competition my junior and senior years of high school. It was my life. When I was 17 I contracted viral meningitis. It pulled the rug out from under me and all of my goals with it. I was no longer to complete in swimming like I wished. All of my plans for college were changed and I wouldn't be able to fulfill my goal of swimming in college. However, I have had the dream of serving a mission much much longer than my dream to swim in college. When the age limit for girls to serve was lowered I jumped on the opportunity. I am currently serving in the Spokane Washington Mission. I am so humbled to be able to go teach the people of Washington this incredible gospel. I know it can bless and change their lives for good. I know that because I've seen it in my own life. This gospel is centered on love from our Heavenly Father and the eternal atoning sacrifice of His son Jesus Christ. I don't know where I would be without the gospel of Jesus Christ in my life, and frankly I don't even like to imagine where I'd be. This gospel has blessed my life in more ways than I can count. I love it.

Why I am a Mormon

This gospel is true. I have a testimony of it myself. I know that Christ has restored the true and everlasting gospel to the Earth today and that he did it through a living prophet, Joseph Smith Jr. I know, with every fiber of my being, that the Book of Mormon is another true testament of Jesus Christ. Jesus is the Christ. He suffered, bled, and died for me that I may repent and return to live with him someday. I know there is a life after this. It doesn't just end with death. There is a great and marvelous plan laid out for us. I know that there is a living prophet on the earth today, just as in days of old, to lead and guide the church through revelation from God. We aren't alone in this world. Even when we may feel like no one else is there we always have the Lord by our side. He will never abandon us. This gospel is glorious. I have an unwavering testimony of its truthfulness. I don't know where I would be without it to guide and bless me every day of my life. I invite all to come unto Christ and know of it's surety. Again, I know this gospel is true. And I say these things in the name of our Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

Last summer I was able to go on a camping trip with all of the young women (12-18) in my area. I was the assistant camp director. We spent a couple of months coming up with spiritual activities and workshops for all of the girls to go to. We tried to have each thing we did contribute to building up the girl's testimonies of the gospel and faith in their Savior Jesus Christ. I am now serving a full-time mission for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I love being able share the gospel to those who do not have it in their lives. This gospel is true. I wouldn't have put my schooling and opportunities in life on hold for a year and a half if I didn't know, without a shadow if a doubt, that this is the gospel of Jesus Christ and that it has been restored to the earth today through a living prophet.
