Hi I'm Jessica

I'm a poor college student that wants to travel the world someday. And, yes, I am indeed a Mormon.

About Me

I spent my childhood in Wyoming but then my family moved to Utah right before i entered junior high, so I've been able to experience both worlds - and they're both awesome! I'm the third of four kids and my siblings are seriously my best friends. I love to sing and act and just learn about the world because I really do find it fascinating. I've been a member my whole life but I feel like I've just barely begun to truly appreciate the ginormous blessing the gospel is in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up my family went to church every Sunday, did family scripture reading at six o'clock in the morning and had family prayer morning and night. It was all very routine and comfortable for me. It was what my family "did," because, of course, those are the things that "Jesus would do." And it made us happy and more loving and understanding towards one another. As I got older, it also seemed to be the thing that just made sense to me. It made sense that I had a Father in heaven that loved me and wanted me to be with Him again. It made sense that He prepared a way through His only begotten Son so that all of us could have that chance. As I entered the wonder of teenage years, the church really started to become something I enjoyed. I tried to take my prayers more seriously. I tried to think of WHY I was taught the things I was taught. I don't think I ever doubted the truthfulness of the church - it just seemed like the right thing. But that wasn't enough. And I had never even known that wasn't enough until I left home and found the true beauty of the church - the atonement. I had learned about the atonement of Christ all my life. But I had never really applied it until I felt like the only constant thing in my life was the gospel. And then I truly felt the love of my Father in heaven and my Savior. I learned to apply the atonement when I needed comfort or felt alone. I learned to apply the atonement when I had made stupid mistakes that I couldn't take back. And I learned that that is where the real beauty of this church lies - in the message that Christ died for each of us so that those stupid mistakes or those hard times do not have to be faced alone. I am a Mormon because I have found joy in this gospel that I have found in no other place. I am a Mormon because I KNOW that this gospel can bring peace and comfort to every person. This gospel is what makes me want to be a better person each and every day and share that happy news with the whole world.

How I live my faith

I hope the biggest way I live my faith is by being kind to and loving those around me. I try to be positive and happy, even when life gets rough, so that attitude can be caught by those around me. I go to church each week and really try to listen to what's being said and then apply it to what's going on in my life at the time. I've found that personal scripture study is one of the best ways that I can draw closer to my Savior and find out ways to better myself. I've held leadership positions in the youth programs in the church and currently serve as my ward's bulletin board coordinator. I live my faith by thinking the best of and believing in those around me and hopefully lifting them up whenever I can.
