Hi I'm Jake Johnston

I am a missionary in the Canada Vancouver mission. I love anything sports. I'm a Mormon, EH!

About Me

I was born and raised in Cache Valley Utah with a little bit of South eastern Idaho thrown in there, here and there. I have been blessed to have a cut and paste family and I love them all. There is a saying I have heard that says, It takes a village to raise a child. You could say I was somewhat that way with a mom, dad, step mom, and all the others that helped be who I am now. Because of this I have six younger siblings and we are all different in our own way but with all that goes on in my crazy family there is one uniting link and that is the Restored Gospel. I love to be outside and to enjoy fresh air. I have been active with sports all my life. everything from soccer, football, basketball, wrestling, lacrosse, rugby, running, cycling, swimming, and the list goes on. I love the Heavenly Father has blessed me with this wonderful body and a awesome world to do all these things! Because I am fascinated with the human body I plan to go into the medical field of study after my mission.

Why I am a Mormon

Why I am a Mormon, in today's world this is a very good question. But I am a Mormon because of one simple fact, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is Christ's true church once again restored to earth. We have the same organization that existed in Christ's original church established in the New Testament. And that is a foundation built upon apostales and prophets (Ephesians 2, 4). But I do know that I have not come to this knowledge myself. I have prayed to know, and I have had a confirming answer. Joseph Smith is a Prophet called of God to restore the fullness of the Gospel. We now have a modern day Prophet, Thomas S. Monson, who leads and guides us today. Heavenly Father loves all of His children and is going to reach out to everyone. I am a Mormon because simply I follow Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and this is His true Church.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving others. To follow the example of Jesus Christ and give service where ever it is that I go. Whether in my family or in the neighborhood, I enjoy finding something I can do to help someone else. This can be an actual act of service or my example to them. I try to share the Gospel with my life and when I need to I use my words to explain. I stand as a witness for God at all times, in all places and in all things. (Mosiah 18:9)

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Jake Johnston
No. No one in the church is forced to serve a mission. It is a voluntary choice and is one made out of charity and love for others. I have chosen to come on a mission because the Gospel of Jesus Christ truly has blessed my life and I want others lives to be as blessed as the one I enjoy. Show more Show less
