Hi I'm Amanda

I'm from Las Vegas, Nevada. I'm a little bit of a gym rat. I'm serving a mission in Richmond, Virginia. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Ive lived in Las Vegas Nevada for my whole life but for the time being I am serving a mission in Virginia! I never thought I would serve a mission...God makes the plans though and it is great:) I am going to school to become a Registered Dietician. Working out is a big passion of mine. I also love doing things like boating, hiking, cooking, learning, and laughing. Im really easy going and just like to work hard and have fun in all things!

Why I am a Mormon

I have grown up in the church. But that doesn't always mean my testimony has been strong. But now nothing could shake my testimony. I have felt the spirit too many times to ever deny it. I have witnessed miracles I could never deny. And I have experienced the blessings of living the gospel principles. It makes me happy. I know that Christ lives. He died for me and he died for you. His whole church makes me a better 'me'. Without the fulness of the gospel in my life, I would have limited direction in my life. Why I'm a Mormon is exactly why I'm a missionary. I feel incredibly indebted to the Lord for the blessings I have received in my life because of the truths I know. Because of this I feel the need to share my happiness with others so that they can experience the same. Many people tell me that they are "fine with the way their life is now" but if they only knew how they could feel if they experienced the Gospel of Jesus Christ in their lives they would be so eager to learn:)

How I live my faith

The first thing people say when they find out I'm from Las Vegas is "how are you Mormon?!" there are temptations anywhere you go. That is why daily scripture study and prayer are so important. One thing i like to remember is that I don't read the scriptures and pray because I have a testimony; I have a testimony because I read my scriptures and pray. As you do that everyday you will build up your own testimony and own conviction that will make it easy to live like you believe. On my mission, I strive everyday to live worthy to be a representative of Jesus Christ. There is a lot of confusion and strife in this world, and the gospel can alleviate so much of that as you rely on your faith.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

To share the happiness and joy of the gospel that we have been blessed with in our lives! So many people don't know where to turn to for truth so we go out and try to find them in order to bring the truth to them. Show more Show less

What is the priesthood?

The priesthood is the power or authority to act in God's name. Prophets of ancient times held it, such as Moses, Abraham, etc. Jesus Christ of course had it as well and when he was on the earth he gave this authority by the laying on of hands to his 12 apostles. This authority is necessary to perform ordinances that can be "bound on earth and in heaven", (Matthew 16:19) such as baptism and marriage. This authority was brought back to the earth when Joseph Smith was called as a prophet, and has been passed down to each successor as well as other worthy men in the church. It is always used to bless others! Show more Show less

What is Mormonism? OR What do Mormons believe?

We believe in Jesus Christ, ultimately. We believe and most importantly we LIVE his teachings, or at least we try to. We have faith in Him. We believe in repentance and forgiveness because of His atonement. We are baptized in His name. We receive the Holy Ghost after we are baptized who guides us for the rest of our lives. We are one of the only faiths I know of that actually strive to keep ALL of the ten commandments. We follow the commandments in the Bible, but we believe in continuing revelation. Latter day prophets have received revelation from God to help us more in our lives. That is why there are "new" commandments that we follow, such as the Word of Wisdom. We believe that the prophet on the earth is the mouthpiece of God, just as any other prophet was in the Bible such as Adam or Noah. Show more Show less
