Hi I'm Joe

Raised in the city, moved to the country. I have a loving wife and five awesome kids aged ten and under. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live in a beautiful part of the country where wildlife is a part of our life. I have a wonderful wife and five kiddos that make life worthwhile. I enjoy cooking dishes from around the country and around the world. During rare spare moments, I like to hunt and fish. We have a nice garden and a few chickens which provide us with teaching moments with our kids. I love watching the kids play and catch frogs and just enjoy being kids.

Why I am a Mormon

I will never forget the way I became a Mormon. My wife and I had not been church going people for a very long time but we felt as though we were missing something in our family. We talked about how we needed to add some spirituality to our lives. We decided to go to a church on that Sunday and we would "try out" different churches until we found one we liked. The day after we decided this course of action my oldest child who was 4 at the time started yelling, "Theres mens at the door, theres mens at the door" I went to the door and there were two young men who introduced themsleves as Elder Jorgenson and Elder Dawson from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I invited them in and we talked for a some time. Up until then I knew almost nothing of Mormons. They asked me to read some scriptures in the Book of Mormon and to pray about them. That night, I did read those words and as tears streamed down my cheeks I knew that these words were true. I knew that I needed to find out more about this church. Six weeks later, my wife and I were baptised. We have been members now for about 8 years and we have never looked back. We have had our trials along the way but with complete and utter honesty I can say that the people in this church are my family and that as I follow the guidance from our church leaders I am able to overcome all of our trials. I feel very fortunate that Heavenly Father sent those two young men to introduce us to what it means to be a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by teaching the 8 year old kids at Sunday school with my wife. Sometimes its the kids teaching us it seems, they are all so bright and filled with the the Holy Spirit. In our home, we use the teaching of our church to instill good values in our children like loving all our neighbors and serving others. I am amazed at how much they enjoy serving others and acting as goodwill ambassadors.
